Product Description

Product Description

This FSC pine Butterfly Tower provides a safe place for butterflies to rest and spend the winter as well as giving you the chance to observe their complete lifecycle. It naturally resists rotting water damage and warping and can be free standing or attached to a fence or tree outdoors. If a butterfly can not find food it will move on to a better place where food is available. So if you are looking to attract butterflies to your garden be sure that you plant a lot of flowers not only for the butterflies themselves but also for the caterpillars. Then position this box close to the scented flowers and in a sheltered spot where it will catch the early morning sun.Dimensions: 23x 17x 40.5cm high.

The durability of these butterfly houses seems to be a bit hit and miss. I have one and I bought others for my sister and my mother-in-law. While theirs still both look fairly good, mine has faded and warped quite badly and the lovely butterfly symbol on the front has cracked and peeled away. Even the little viewing window has become opaque.

I am afraid to say also that none of them has attracted any butterflies to move in...

Its a lovely idea and we have all now left them up for around 3 years in the hope that this year the box will be weathered and natural enough for a passing butterfly to think its a des-res....but no luck so far. :(

Looks pretty in the garden though!

Lovely concept to help the planet and the creatures that contribute to our environment. I have no idea if the butterflies like it so will watch, wait and see.
