Will Young always tells a story with his music, he takes you on a journey. He wrote Changes with longstanding writing partner Eg White composer of Leave Right Now, Who Am I and has collaborated with Will on other tracks on his forthcoming album.

Changes soul searching lyrics are about being in a rut, and need to get out of a situation that is no good for you. To make Changes in your life you have to overcome physical hurdles before you can move on - not an easy task!

This well crafted classic piece of cool new soul realism shows a maturity and progression in life. It showcases Will`s sensitive and versatility as an artist. Having had the chance to listen to several other new tracks at the summer festivals, Changes is the perfect gentle introduction to his fourth album Let It Go. It is his most personal album to date, and has various genres from disco, soul and funk to orchestral chamber pop.

Will Young is a deep and philosophical thinker, he has a great understanding of people and connects with his audience. His music has mature reflective lyrics that the listener can relate to, learn from or question. Given that Changes is currently at number five in the offical UK airplay chart weeks before it`s download or physical release availability, shows what a cracking track this is.

Changes is a must buy for your singles collection, superbly sang, superbly presented.

Will certainly is a rare breed, especially for this day and age, possessing both a great, and a potentially versitile voice that can master many musical genres incredibly effectively, which in turn can easily put many of his contempories in the shade, but his problem appears to be the fact that he tends to veer on the side of caution, especially where his single releases are concerned, which i find rather unfortunate as this rarely allows him the luxury to display his true vocal (as well as musical) worth, which means ultimately he rarely truly fulfills his potential. Many will praise 'Changes' for its instant radio friendly sound and pop appeal, but in many ways it's one of Will's less inspiring single releases, especially considering it's the first one to be lifted from a forthcoming album. It's neither a truly inspiring song like 'Leave Right Now', or uniquely different like 'Switch It On', his previous opening singles, from 'Friday's Child' and 'Keep On' respectively, it's merely Will being Will, or at least what we've come to expect from Will in recent times, but to me at this time in his career that's simply not enough. Maybe it's the slickness of his vocals, and the general clean sound that i object to so much, as well as the instantly cliched chorus, which seems so very stereotypical of so many more recent hits from a range of artists, including Will himself.

At this time in his career Will ideally needs to release something which can really stand proudly on its own terms, and at the same time offering a note of distinction to set it apart from much of the contemporary sounds of the day, but 'Changes' is rather too slight and samey, and perhaps a little too bland to ever really establish its own identity in this saturated pop world.

A catchy radio friendly chorus but it's the verses that I particularly like these, along with the superb video, illustrate a darker side to this song. This is one of the least produced tracks Will has released and I'm hopeful the album will be the same. It allows Will's wonderful vocal to stand out and it feels as if he is singing right next to you. This may be a relatively 'safe' first single from his new album but based on the material he has sung at festivals over the summer I'm sure there are several potential singles to come to demonstrate his range.

I was overjoyed to hear this latest release from Mr. Young as it has been an eternity since he had a track out.
By changes he was indeed changing and I was concerned that his theatre / stage was becoming his direction which would have been a shame given that we don't go to theatres.
This new track was a very catchy number and one I find quite enjoyable. With an upbeat backing and pleasant lyrics the track is hopefully the start of more from Will, I hope to hear more and feel his voice had matured, a change in the right way by any means!!

A great return from Will Young back into the feild of pop. Hopefully this signals a taste of the new album. The vocals prove that Will's voice is still as strong and distinctive as ever.

Hopefully the sublime Chris Lake and Superbass remixes will accompany the single release.
