Product Description

About the Author

I'm Scarlett Edwards. I'm a full-time student (2nd year, undergrad) and part-time writer. I hope to switch those around soon! I'm kind of old fashioned. I write all my stories using paper and ink. At the end of the day, I transcribe them on my laptop. It takes a bit longer, but writing in a notebook really focuses my thoughts. I love vintage photography. I have an old-school film camera that was my mom's from before I was born. I use it to take pictures almost every day. I love hearing from my readers. I love getting feedback about my books. I'm just getting started, and plan on doing this writing gig for a long, long time. I take inspiration from all the indie romance authors. Addison Moore, Samantha Young, Colleen Hoover, Jessica Sorensen, and everyone else…. you girls rock!

I liked this book. It had a bit of adventure, a slight misdirection, and an ultimate happy ending - that bit I'm not so sure about as there is another book to follow...!

Richard and Penelope are attracted to each other, and after their initial quick meeting, followed by hot sex, they are thrown together in an even more unexpected adventure, that could risk both of their lives.

Richard has not been completely honest with Penny, he's not really a bad guy it's just circumstances that have made him appear to be.

Penny may look small and innocent, but she's had her fair share of knock backs, and meeting Richard has really thrown her; there is a definite attraction there, but should she deny it?

Before Penny can make up her mind, she is thrown into the middle of something messy, which she has no idea about, and Richard is not very forthcoming with the truth. Should she stay and risk her own life, or if she goes, will she regret it?

This is a good story, with a slight twist to the good girl meets bad boy tale. The characters are believable, sometimes quite funny, and you definitely want to know what drives them. Will they have their happy ending?

I'd definitely recommend this book as a good, easy read. The second book is also out now, and will continue, and finish, the story of Richard and Penny.

The book opens with a bar scene, which resonated with me – we’ve all been there: bad day and a need to head to a bar for a well-deserved drink. With pacey descriptions and edgy dialogue, I was hooded straight away; I could not put it down!

College student, Penelope, finds herself down on her luck when her party-girl roommate spends their rent money on drugs and booze, getting them evicted. A chance meeting in the bar sets her on a fast roller-coaster ride as she gets caught up in the chaotic life of Richard.

Penelope is a deeply determined and independent character. Though she has survived her fair share of heartbreak, she is not embittered by this; rather she perseveres, is energetic and has a bit of a soft spot for troubled souls. It is these aspects of her character that make her so endearing, so believable and get her in, and out of, tight spots and intense moments. Richard is an equally resolute character, defensive, protective, mysterious. Both Penelope and Richard have pasts they keep hidden and this creates the intriguing atmosphere of suspense which drives the plot forward.

‘Change of Heart’ is an action packed unpredictable story, peppered with few steamy sex scenes – it kept me riveted from start to finish.

This book kept me hooked from the moment I first brought. The plots twists and turns keeps you on the edge of your seat at all time. I am just waiting for the sequel to be released. I LOVED IT. All I can say it isn't for young children or children at all, maybe late teens .
You think you know the plot but then it goes boom boom pow!

This book was okay but that is as good as it gets. Penny's internal dialogue was repetitive, circuitous and resolved nothing which made reading it irritating. I did not warm to her and found the path of the story unlikely whilst she asked lots of questions. Yet when there were twists and turns in the tale she asked nothing!? Rich was two dimensional with an unlikely back story shoe-horned in. Cliched dialogue, far fetched plot line and was glad to get to the end. Will not bother with the next one.

`Change of Heart' begins with a student named Penny, sitting alone in a bar where she meets Richard; with whom the rest of the book's adventures take place. The book is steamy and it's romantic, but it is far much more than this. It has drama to gorge upon and multi-dimensional characters to drool over.

I found that Edwards writes with a fantastically descriptive air and has fine attention to detail - all my senses were engaged in Penny's world and I found that I was picturing myself in all of her situations alongside her. I believe this is exactly what a reader expects from a good read.

Whilst reading the first chapter I was pleasantly surprised to find that alongside the expected romantic eroticism, there were moments of gripping drama also. Perfect for those like me who need a little more substance and plot to their novels.

Edwards may not be Ernest Hemingway but she doesn't need to be; her writing draws you in, her plots are fast paced enough to keep you intrigued, and her characters are developed well. Not just this, but the protagonist in particular was (and I expect is to other readers) extremely relatable, particularly for those who are in college themselves or have been previously. Again, certain plot points would ring home to many college students.

I feel like - and I mean this as a compliment in the highest - that `Change of Heart' would perfectly appeal to those who once found their fantasy world of choice in `Twilight' but have now moved on to newer pastures.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading what I have of this book and can't wait to keep reading and finish it up. If you are a fan of contemporary romantic stories then you can do no worse than to dive right into Penny's world!
