Celluloid was a New York/French label who released crazy, out there stuff back in the late 70's and early 80's when everyone else was listening to punk and dross. Whilst there are occasional influcences from both of these genres on this compilation (the Futura 2000 track features The Clash), it's decidedly electronic in sound, even to today's ears, and very very quirky. Very much worth a listen, as long as you can handle it "different". Enjoy!

A great collection of electronic music history of the early 80s. Sadly most of the 12" mixes are transferred from vinyl which makes it quite useless for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating mix 5 April 2013

A delicious collision of hip hop, postpunk, French new wave and world beat, stirred together with a heavy Bill Laswell influence. I've already enjoyed the earlier Celluloid collection "Bill Laswell: Deconstruction" for years, and this is a perfect companion/expansion. There are a few songs I don't care for, but that's how it goes with compilations; this one is definitely above average as most of the songs are keepers.
