HASH(0x90f66c9c) out of 5 stars Lots of tension and breathtaking action! 24 Aug. 2007
By Tracy Vest - Published on
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Mia Kearney awakes in a lab with no memory only to find out that she is the sole survivor of a nuclear accident. Her small Idaho town was wiped out and now an agent with Homeland Security is questioning how she managed to survive. When the CIA decides they want to take over the investigation, agent Nick Price wonders if there is not more to the story. When he sees Mia flee, he gives Chase and goes on the run with her to try to figure out who was behind the "accident" and whatever else they are trying to cover up. Romance blossoms between the two as they set out to uncover a plot that conspiracy theorists will jump on.

Davis combines plenty of breathtaking action and interesting plot twists to tell a pretty timely story. She holds nothing back - including the townspeople's harrowing and painful last breaths. Great dialog, great action, great chemistry... great read!

HASH(0x912adabc) out of 5 stars Loved this book 3 Jun. 2007

Format: Mass Market Paperback
I had never read a book by Dee Davis and this one was a great book filled with two main characters Mia and Nick you just can't help but route for lots of sexual tension and chemistry and some humor mixed in as well and the background for the story which I won't give away was also refreshing.

I can't wait to read the rest of this authors books.
HASH(0x912f2600) out of 5 stars Glad I Read This Book 2 Aug. 2014

Format: Mass Market Paperback
I bought the Kindle version of this book in 2010 and for some reason never did read it. Now I can't find the Kindle version on Amazon so not sure what happened with that but I am glad I did read it. The story starts out in Cedar Branch, Idaho where Mia Kearney lives doing her art. This is a very very small town that has only a few residents and less visitors. Mia stops at Cuppa Joe's to get a drink & a pastry then returns to her house to work on her art. The next thing she knows she wakes up in a hospital of sorts with no memory of how she got there. Enter Nick Price with Homeland Security asking her questions that she has no answers for. Nick tells her there has been an explosion at Cedar Branch and he thinks she is involved.

Nick is suddenly told to drop the investigation and return home. That starts the chain of events that take Mia & Nick to several different states running from the bad guys. This is an interesting story with romance and danger. I am glad I finally read it.

This story carries a believable chain of events. Dee Davis is an imaginative story teller, putting enough twists into her narrative to keep the reader enthralled. The characters are well developed, the action fast paced and the relationships satisfying. I would recommend Ms. Davis to anyone who enjoys Maya Banks, Cherry Adair or Suzanne Brockmann
