Product Description

Peter Sarsgaard plays a rich but socially inept computer engineer who meets with Molly Parker, drummer-by-day-stripper-by-night career woman. However, what should have been a simple cash-for-sex arrangement becomes a journey into their deepest erotic fantasies; where love has been deconstructed and sex becomes 'The Centre of the World'.

Firstly I do not understand the negative reviews , this is a really enjoyable indy film about sex . Both my partner and I really rated this movie and we watch alot of 18 certs [ and see alot of rubbish ] . Ok this isnt sleazy or porny or salacious . Top writers [ husband and wife Auster and Hustvedt } give this class plus there are great shots of Vegas hotels [ yes there are hand held camera shots but this isnt big budget and more charming for being so]. Plus there is a great captivating indy cast; Molly Parker [ suspicious river] and a young Peter Sarsgaard [ an education]. Its the simple story of a computer geek who pays a stripper to go away with him for a couple of days . They sign a contract and then have to negociate the difference between love/sex/relationship and how far will an escort go for money . this is a film to make you think rather than to turn you on, we stayed awake discussing this for hours . This isnt a fairy tale pretty woman , but a more interesting twist on sex industry ; how the woman can sell herself and how the man can fool hinself . Excellent ; lets think about sex.

Yes folks , this is a real dog. Obnoxious, unbelievable characters.

The film only comes alive for two minutes when another character enter the film for a brief scene.

Not sexy, or graphic but just a turn off .

When you start watching this film the first thing you will notice is the sting as you are beaten around the face with a chain of bad acting and unrealistic dialogue. The plot itself had so much more mileage yet it failed to live up to expectations.

If you are looking for a film with good acting or a good plot line or sexy scenes then don't get this one. If you are looking for the anithesis with a bit of average to good direction then have a watch.

It's simply unbelievable that Wayne Wang, Paul Auster and Siri Hustvedt could associate and make up a story and movie so ridiculous and annoying.
They must have been on something during the whole writing/directing/editing of this mess... which could not be saved by a few nude scenes with the poor Molly Parker. Sorry, but even that can't make the "Centre of the World" interesting, exciting, or anything else.

For people who enjoyed "Smoke" and "Blue in the face", this THING is an infamous betrayal !
