A book that gives the reader " Then and Now " views along the route. Many well captioned black & white photographs of a route that I travelled on occasionally during the 1970s. It is a lovely route, which has altered somewhat since steam days, mostly for the worse, but in the re-doubling of track at Llandrindod Wells, for the better. There is not much interesting infrastructure on the railways these days, so this book will give some idea. The lovely area could have benefitted from having colour pictures though.

I have always admired the Central Wales Line, even when I was eight years old and visiting my Aunt who lives near Llandrindod Wells. The book shows various points of the line right in its early days right up to the mid 1990s in present day photos. The books shows the original route of the line into Swansea Victoria and not the Swansea station of today that we all know.

Good Photos of Heart of Wales Railway captured in this book. Photos from Steam Days and photos from recent era to compare.
All taken by Roger Siviter without his pictures we wouldnt have such a record of this great line which runs through the centre of Wales.
My only complaint is the price of the book for the small number of photos compared to similar titles in this range.
Otherwise a great record of the line.
