Considering you can pay well into the hundreds of pounds for a telescope for the price, this one isn't half bad. I found it quite ideal for use in the garden between me and my family, kids and all. All of us are complete beginners to the world of astronomy and my technical knowledge of telescopes and their accessories is almost non-existent. However, we all found this telescope extremely easy to use and navigate with. The set-up is ridiculously simple. The tripod comes fully constructed. The most you have to do is pull out the legs and twist a few screws to extend them if desired.

This doesn't profess to be a top of the range tripod so it doesn't possess the kind of quality and durability that is going to allow it to survive to be the next family heirloom. However, what is does provide is outstanding value. When starting out what is the point in spending £500 or so on a indestructible, top-notch telescope only to find that you really don't get on with the whole astronomy thing and relegate the scope to the back of the shed to be forgotten forever more? The Powerseeker 76 allows you to get a taster for all things celestial and if you don't get on with it then, hey, well it's no big loss!

The scope itself is easy to manoeuvre with smooth controls and focus is crisp and clear as it needs to be to view popular night time objects such as the planets. I was quite impressed by the number of accessories that were thrown in the package. The Barlow lens really helps to boost the magnification for viewing the finer details and there is also a finderscope and a couple of different eyepieces included which make up a great set of starter accessories, along with a tray to store them all on when using the scope so you can chop and change them at will.

I highly recommend this to any amateur astronomer or those on a budget. Celestron are a well-known, high-quality brand and this model doesn't disappoint.

We bought this for our 8 year old Grandson and he absolutely loves it! Well worth every penny we paid. It is sturdy and practical and he and his dad can transfer what they see onto the computer screen and see it extra large! Best present ever and will hold his interest in the Solar System for many years, I'm sure!

Great telescope, good instructions and good starter telescope! Took a while to find the moon but only due to unfamiliarity on my part! Best Christmas present ever can't wait to explore more! Bigger stand than I thought n well not super steady it's sturdy enough for someone starting out!! Great telescope with good viewing through Barlow lenses and 20mm eyepiece!

Bought this telescope for my little lad, he is 13, this is a great beginners telescope at a good price, recently he showed some interest in Astronomy "they have been doing astronomy stuff at school recently" but I did not want to spend over £100 on something he might get bored with, but he loves it, easy to set up and to use, it also gets him out of the house and away from his PC

Would highly recommend as a starter telescope, maybe not for the professionals out there!

    Good gift
