About the Author

Sandy Raven has a husband who spoils her rotten, and kids that are just a hair’s breadth away from perfect. She’s addicted to House Hunter’s International and has never missed an episode, though she acknowledges that she could never live in most of those countries because the houses are just too small. She is also addicted to Starbucks’ Chai Latte, and never passes up an opportunity to have one. Sandy grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast with sand between her toes and perpetually frizzy hair. Which is why she now lives in the middle-of-nowhere Virginia, in a place with minimal to moderate humidity (for perfect, non-frizzy curls,) rolling hills and farmed forests. The only downside to that is the temperamental satellite internet and the closest Starbucks being a thirty minute drive away. Home is a renovated old farm house she shares with her hero husband, in the foothills of Blue Ridge Mountains, where she’s owned by more cats, dogs and horses than she cares to admit to. She’s a long-time member of RWA, and is a member of VRW and the Beau Monde. Second to writing is her love for her horses. She practices natural horsemanship, and loves to ride her barefoot Tennessee Walkers on the trails and in the woods around her home. Generally an easy read which goes quite quickly but does not have a lot of substance to the plot. The characters are ok but I never really came to care for them and quickly forgot about the story once i'd read it. It did not make me rush to purchase the next in the series.

The books first few pages showed great promises. When I realize these were empty, I decided against finishing the book. The characters are too flat and not engaging enough. Ultimately, I don't really care what happen to either of them even if the author is not a bad writer .

If you like the M&B stuff then this is for you. I keep hoping for something different in these period romances and thought this might have had a bit more mystery but was disappointed. The story could have been better developed. There was the possibility of intrigue but it was skipped over very quickly to make room for "bedroom" scenes which ended up all being the same and really quite tame. Neither of the main characters was very engaging and there was not enough interactions with the other characters - some of which sounded as they could have been really interesting.

As a linguist I have one forceful comment : please please please authors DO NOT use another language if you don't know it correctly. The number of mistakes in the Italian in this one made me cringe and I don't know if the Arabic was any better!

I thought I was reading three books all of which were very very good in their own right. Evil aunt, teenager abducted into slavery. Prince Charming with love and lust to rival any 'literary love scene' and finally A controlling brute who sought nothing more than use her to have an heir. The author had cleverly combined all three storylines into one. There was much to be developed with her sister in laws character, her young brother link to story and of course the other side of Rens' personality. I can't wait to start the next book is has been quickly added to my library. The author is now on my favourites list. Worth 10 stars. Only criticism for me was endless minute detail of meals etc. highly recommend this book to all readers (unless your want blood and guts). Lovely read, I could easily re read.

Although this novel is classed as book 1 in the series, Miss Amelia Lands a Duke which is a stand alone novel should be read first, as its the lead up to the Caversham Chronicles...the novel is about the father, Marcus Renfield Holden II. 8th Duke of Caversham. Caversham's Bride is the 9th Duke of Caversham.... A wonderfully graphic tale of the times... It has all the elements that keeps you turning the pages... full of drama. With this tale, you get to travel to Monacco, sail on the high seas, and travel England. I enjoyed each section of their travels from start to end. Love the way this author captures the essence of the 1800's in the UK, and yet Sandy Raven is not from here.... So well done.. must have taken a lot of research.... Worthy of reading.

I thought the first few pages exciting then it all got a bit laborious until they were on the ship heading back to england where it seemed to pick up again, though it did still drag in places. The two main characters were charming and I loved the way the writer never pussy footed around with how they felt for each other and that they mostly said their feelings aloud so there wasn't any tiresome misunderstandings. It also had some beautiful love scenes which showed their loved for one another
