About the Author
Chris Charlesworth has spent a lifetime writing about music, both as a staff writer on Melody Maker during the Seventies and for countless other media outlets since. Until recently the Editor-in-Chief on Omnibus Press, he has interviewed hundreds of musicians, including John Lennon, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, The Who, Elton John and Rod Stewart, and travelled on the road with Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen and Eric Clapton. He has produced records for The Who and his music blog Just Backdated has attracted over half a million hits.

It helps heaps that Charlesworth, a former Melody Maker staffer and Omnibus publishing editor, has been an ardent Elvis Presley fan since childhood. Having absorbed the detail, fallen for the players, and been seduced by both music and myth, he has spun a clever and more-ish yarn here. It lingers long after the final page. This story kept me up, nights. Should I say 'night': I wolfed it down in one duvet session. I wish I hadn't now. I know: I'll read it again.
As Elvis himself says, 'I'm worth more to you alive than dead.' We have been wincing over Elvis conspiracy theories for forty years. Not this one.
Charlesworth's other insane passion, I gather, is the Who. What untold story will he conjure there? I am gagging.
A clever story well told, made me think. What more can you ask?
thoroughly recommended whether you are an Elvis fan or not.
