If you have heard the haunteds cds, then you know how good they are. If you are lucky enought to have seen them live, you know they are plain awsome. Well this is what you get, putting it on with surround sound, volume up full, lights out and you might as well be there (not as good as actually being there but hey). If you like the band it is essential, if you like thrash it is essential, if you like metal it is essential. If you don't like any of the above buy it and educate yourself in the best form of music HeavyMetal. The Haunted saviours of Thrash!!

the haunted are a band that fuse vicious metal with kisses of melody, they are swedish and with that and the fact that two members came from the legendary at the gates there is the gothenberg sound blended within.

The band live are intense, angry, precise and daunting but in truth the set isnt that electric, the band offer little more live than blending out what they have reecorded on cd and little else, there is little charisma and excitement, plus you get a bonus show which is exactly the same set,and thats hardly great, the bonus stuff is limited and hardly insightful so all in all this isnt a groundbreaking dvd from a band that are a lot better than this implies.

Its not the most professional thing I have ever seen. Its more like a well done bootleg. But if your a fan of the band its a fun thing to own. The sound at the show in sweden is much better and the picture is better at the Japanese show but what can you do this is a small underground band so they made a small underground DVD. What do you expect there from Sweden the Tax rates are 50% give them a break. The tour of the studio was cool, it was great to see the place where so many great metal albums in recent history have been recorded. If your looking for a really slick production go no further but if you love the band you'll have fun seeing the inner workings.
HASH(0x9c9a3ab0) out of 5 stars Great band but not the best way to showcase their talent 26 April 2003

Hi readers, this is the Haunted's first dd and hopefully not the
last, but shame on you Earache records for releasing such a low quality dvd.
It contains two 1-hour shows (around 55 minutes each) and a 25 minutes
"making of...one kill wonder". As added bonus it also
contains 2 songs from the upcoming album (1 is audio only).
First, let's review the japanese show: The quality of the image
is below tv standard (almost bootleg) and the sound is uneven.
The show is mixed with the "making of" between every few songs,
very annoying and unnecessary when you have the option from the
main menu to watch the entire 25 minutes "making of".
When the lights are down during the songs you can almost see the
low quality of the recording, it looks like you're watching a
web broadcast (very grainy and a few transparent shadows). It is
surprising to read in the booklet that both shows were recorded
by professionnals! (i hope they got their money back...)
Second the Malmo, Sweden 2001 show: The difference between the
footage from Japan and this show is like comparing night and day.
The jump in quality and sound is incredible with much better
production value. This show is recorded with plenty of lights so
you won't see the blackness of the japan show here. The singer
speaks to the crowd in-between songs so you might understand
what he's talking about if you speak Swedish.
The Malmo, Sweden show is a complete show, non-interrupted like
the Japanese show (so you don't have to skip anything).
Now for the 25 minute "making of...one kill wonder" although too
short is very informative and for fans of Fredrik Nordstrom (of
Fredman studios, well-known metal producer) you get to see the
recording facilities. It contains interviews with all the band
members, Fredrik Nordstrom and the guy who makes special effects
on their albums (just a guy they hire for that purpose only).
So why the low score you may wonder, well i have to take off one
point for the sound of the Japan show which could be better.
I also have to take one point off for that show's quality which
is almost bootleg vhs quality, very disapointing!.
I also have to take one point for the way the dvd is presented.
How can they expect us to watch the "bonus features"(the "making
of...one kill wonder") when the same footage is included in the
Japanese show. I must also mention that when they show the Earache logo
at the beginning of the dvd it looks like it was taken fom a vhs tape, very 80's looking!
If you're looking for any kind of credits on this dvd then forget
about it. Who filmed what, who's the producer, camera guys and
all that stuff is nowhere to be found here. If you're a new fan
and you want to know who the band members are you will only find
this info in the "making of", i would bet Earache records didn't
spend thousands of dollars on the production of this dvd.
If you're a fan of the Haunted buy it, but make sure you don't
pay more ... for it. I haven't seen any other dvd from
Earache records and one can only hope that their quality-control
didn't fly out the window.
As a first time buyer of an Earache dvd it left a bad taste in my mouth and the only thing saving
this piece of plastic is the Sweden show and the band members performances.
Thanks for reading,
Mario

This is a low-budget DVD, but well worth it if you're a fan of the band. I prefer the Peter Dolving version of The Haunted, but after watching this, Marco comes across as a cool dude who's very appreciative of his time in the band.
The live shows are basic, especially the Malmo show, but both have their unique qualities.
For me, the best part of the live shows is the At The Gates version of "Blinded by fear." Damn good cover!
I just hope the band puts out a new DVD soon with Peter...

A great DVD and amazing band. People really need to stop complaining about quality issues because I personally don't see a single thing wrong with my copy. besides you can't call yourself a band if you haven't recorded on analog equipment which is obviously the case here and it gives it a much more raw look and sound to go with the name "Caught On Tape" the keyword being "caught", almost like a candid representation. (Like a ghost sighting - caught on tape)
HASH(0x9c9a5d68) out of 5 stars Ummm....Alright, I guess...The Haunted is still great! 10 Nov. 2004

The overall quality blows, especially at the Japan show. I swear I can't hear Jensen's guitar at either show. However, if you're a Haunted fan like me, you gotta get it.
