Catharine Slade-Brooking is an educator, designer and writer whose research focuses primarily on graphic communication, branding, design research methods, and drawn communication. She is a Senior Lecturer on BA Graphic Communication at the University for the Creative Arts.
Starting her career in illustration she studied at the Arts Institute Bournemouth followed by launching a design consultancy specialising in branding and illustration. She has has taught in Higher Education since 1998 and received an MA in design in 2001.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at the Mall Galleries, The Westminster Gallery, The Chris Beadle Gallery and at the Norsk Farmasihistorisk Museum Oslo. Previous publications include writing and illustrating for books and magazines, “The Encyclopaedia of Illustration Techniques” “The Artists & Illustrators Magazine” and the BBC’s ”Radio Times”, as well as working on design and branding projects for companies including Lloyds Bank, ICI, Sunday Times, Random House, The World Wide Fund for Nature and Zenica.
