    Maybe a Life Saver
I'd never thought about putting mirrors on my bike until I met a fellow commuter that swore by them.I have a hybrid bike that I use to commute into town across a multitude of A and B roads and there are two that I absolutely dread - mainly because of the state of the roads but one seems to be used as the school run and has many large SUVs on tight corners.I purchased this set mainly due to reviews on amazon and youtube - I've used CatEye for other products and they seem to be good value and quality. They are a doddle to fit by removing the end bung from the handle bar. I was a little hesitant about the mirror being too small and, therefore, not showing enough of the road behind or forcing me to move my head too much but in this respect they are just about the right size. A larger one may have been better but there are the obvious drawbacks. In terms of using it, it has transformed my commute. You can now make easier those horrible decisions when approaching junctions to see what is behind without looking back and also determine if you can avoid those pot holes. When traversing downhill when the wind noise makes it difficult to hear vehicles you now can see if there is anything behind. I really wish that I done this years ago.So far, the mirrors are holding up - I've banged them a few times but I do keep them in situ all the time. They do not move or vibrate when riding and are stiff enough to be adjusted/tweaked easily by hand when you inevitably rest them against a wall or when storing the bike. Are they a life saver - maybe - but they do add incredible confidence.Just as an after thought. I sense that when a driver sees you looking at them in your mirror they do act differently - maybe it's just me.

      Update:
4 months later, it's still the best thing i've ever added to my bike. All of the points in my original review still stand. It's absolutely perfect!

It's second nature now to have a quick glance down every so often. So much so, that if I ride a bike that doesn't have one of these, I find myself still glancing down to check behind me. And feeling dissapointed each time I notice it's not there. You really start to appreciate it even more when you ride without for a ride or two.

It's also proven really useful when riding with others. I like to cycle a bit faster than most, so It's been helpful in not ditching my friends when out on rides together.

I did end up purchasing a second one, but I found myself only really using the one side. So I gave one to my partner. Who, after using it once, also shared my opinion of how great it is. Just feels so natural to use.

      Still can't recommend it enough.

      Original review:
Only done one ride with it so far, but I honestly don't know how I've ridden for decades without.

Makes road cycling so much easier. After a single ride I'm much more confident changing lanes. And the improvement to the overall awareness of your surroundings is insane.

Was very easy to fit one on my flared drops, took a matter of seconds. A quick glance down is all I need to look behind me now. And when paired with shoulder glances, I feel like I'm fully aware of everything around me.

It's only small, but the image is very clear, and is more than enough to judge adequate distances from cars behind. It's excellent in the night time too. Super easy to spot car headlights coming up behind you from some distance away.

It's very secure and doesn't wobble out of place going over bumps. Unobtrusive too.

I really can't stress how much of an improvement this tiny little mirror has been so far. I'll be adding a second to my left side.

      Can't recommend it enough!

This mirror, though very small, gives a good view and is vibration-free. It creates minimal drag and doesn't get in the way of your hands when you are down on the drops.

It's small and unobtrusive, which is fitting for a folding Brompton, where everything is small. It's easier to see approaching cars with lights on in the dark than without during the day, and it's placement does mean your arm can get it the way. It's not a complete substitute for turning your head.
Installation was easy and adjusting is also straightforward. I can vouch for how strong it is too, when my bike fell over onto it, there wasn't even a scratch.
For those also with a Brompton, especially with the M-bar and its narrower grips, it's easy to knock the mirror out of position when moving your hand. Also when the bike is folded the placement on the right (UK) means it points upwards and can easily get knocked in storage. I doubt it would work on the left side of an M-bar since there's very little clearance with the floor when folded; an S-bar would be better.
Overall it's a nice mirror, well made and better than not having one at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent addition to Varia radar. Slightly convex.
Reviewed in the United States on 12 June 2022
      Pattern Name: SingleVerified Purchase
As a mature rider who values my health, safety is important while riding. I also love the beautiful look of my high-end carbon frame road bike. I have Garmin's Varia radar which is itself an awesome product. It tells you how many cars are approaching, how fast, etc. (FYI, I have the RVR315 and you'll find many glowing reviews of this online.) Because of arthritis in my neck turning my head sharply to look back is not an easy (or sometimes even possible) option.

The Cateye mirror just adds the missing piece to this puzzle. It's small enough to be subtle and not mess up the clean lines of my sleek looking bike. Yet it's just large enough to get a pretty good view of the cars that are close so you know which lane they are in and how big they are. (The radar doesn't differentiate motorcycles from 18-wheelers.) The radar does let me know there's something there, how many (it stops counting at 8), and how fast. It basically tells me to look in the mirror if more info is required.

Some reviews say the mirror is convex and others say flat. (Maybe they make them both ways? It would be nice to choose if they do!) Mine is a little convex so I get a good view of several lanes of traffic. It's not very good for long distances but the Varia radar has me covered there surprisingly well. The important thing to me is the mirror is clear and not distorted. I generally prefer flat mirrors but this slight convex shape is working for me. It's easy to mount on any normal handlebar and stays put. I just rode 26 miles which included plenty of bumps in the road and, once set initially, never had to readjust the mirror even a single time. I've not experienced any vibration issues either.

If I did not have the radar this mirror would be just adequate for seeing things further back. With the two products working together I feel pretty confident I know what's going on behind me on the bicycle.
