Found it really interesting to read how the foster system worked back in the seventies. Was shocked on more than one occasion at some of the decisions made by social services. Trisha tells the stories in such a matter of fact way you almost forget quite how many children her and her husband were looking after. As a foster carer now, I found it fascinating.

Excellent read. The patience and dedication of Trisha and her husband in looking after and nurturing the many foster children who came through their door is exemplary. Whilst I found the actions of the social worker Bernard Brown appalling. He gave no thought or concern to the well being of Paul and Daisy. His decision to return them to their mother who clearly didn't want them led to furth abuse. He should be held to account for their suffering.

I'm a foster carer and have been for 37 years. Some of the things mentioned in this book happened to us as well. We still keep in contact with some of our kids that were adopted.

Good read- got a bit tedious in the middle of the book so I had to have a short break but easy to pick up again. The book ended abruptly and I was left wondering what happened next.

Thanks Trisha, for sharing your life with these very unfortunate children. A heart wrenching time. At least some stability from you whilst in your care.
