I've always loved Casio watches, and this is no exception. My previous watch, which is very similar, needed replacing as it started to mist up inside after a few years. I should have followed the instructions and got the seal replaced every 2 years. Oh well.

The watch is high quality, and based on my previous experience with a very similar one, the glass remains scratch free even when abused somewhat. As the watch receives a radio signal from your nearest atomic clock transmitter it's always accurate. It's solar powered, but will last months without light and progressively turns off features (e.g. backlight, alarm, etc) depending on its power reserves. In general, it stays fully charged even when you spend most of your time indoors, unless you use the auto-backlight feature which seems to quickly drain the batteries unless the watch sees some direct sunlight every day. It has an 2nd clock which can be set to another time zone, a stop watch, a countdown timer, 5 daily alarms, and an hourly signal. Additionally it comes with a black metal watchstrap, which is comfortable once it's adjusted by removing segments and moving the minor adjustment to one of 3 positions just a few mm apart, and has a locking catch, It also has an electro-luminescent backlight which can be activated by a button or automatically when you angle the watch towards your face. The display is the inverse of most digital watches, in that it is a black background with clear text, and as such the backlight will make the characters illuminate in green, rather than the background. This fits in well with the overall black look to the watch.

In general, it's a very good solidly built watch, which you'd expect given the £110 price tag, but I have a couple of niggles which is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5.

I got this watch to replace a Traser titanium watch where I was getting fed up replacing the shoulder pins in the bracelet on an almost monthly basis. I miss the tritium illumination of the last watch compared to the backlight here which is a bit dimmer than I would prefer and cant be set to stay on more than the default 1.5 seconds which is annoying for the stopwatch. The atomic timekeeping however is fantastic and the watch seems really tough. It looks very smart for the type of watch and isn't too large despite my small wrists.

My main gripe, however, is that the backlight button fell off after two days of use which isn't really in line with the 'Tough Solar' branding on the watch. I hope this is only a manufacturing defect and I'm initially going to try a replacement as for the money, it's an excellent watch in general.

It is G-shock therefore you do not have to be worried when you drop it. It is lightweight, but still made of metal. It is charged by light, so you are not going to need any batteries ever. The exact time is received by radio waves of the atomic clock. It is 20 bars water resistant.
You will not be dissapointed when you buy them. At least I was not.

This is a great watch, let down its bracelet which is designed to fit a tree trunk.

I agree with previous reviewers. This is one sturdy watch. Had it for over 6 months now, and with my lifestyle that's a long time for an everyday watch. I was especially impressed with the scratch resistance of the paint.

The only downside to this watch that I can think of is the dark display. Although it looks really cool, it can be hard to read in low light situations. But hey, that's what the backlight is for.

I honestly recomend this watch.

Update,

Now this thing has been on my wrist for 4 years non stop. No other watch ever lasted that long for me. There is wear and tear, paint has come off on some places. But the piece itself is functioning perfectly fine. Considering the abuse I (unintentionaly) put it through, this is outstanding.

I've had this watch for 2 years now and it's been brilliant. (Edit: nearly 7 Years & its still going strong, NEVER an issue) It's taken a few big hits too. The first day I wore it I came off a mountain bike and it received a heavy impact almost direct on it's face, I still have the scars, the watch was unmarked! I got this watch for work (where I regularly restrain violent people) and it gets a bashing there too, hitting walls & floors and being tugged and pulled about. My previous watches have been scratched and broken within months but 4 years down the line this has a few cosmetic markings on the strap and works like a dream. I don't have to give a second thought even when it's getting knocked about, it feels robust, looks robust and in my experience IS robust. Time keeping and timing of events also play a big part in my work too and the functions this watch offers are more than fit for purpose. Highly recommended for active professionals, outdoor/sports types and people who want a good looking, functional watch that will last.

If you're looking for a rugged watch that can take a bit of a battering and still keep the right time you can't go far wrong with this. I've got a few different dress and fashion watches but picked this up as an everyday knockabout watch and have been very impressed so far. As the previous reviewer notes you don't have to worry about changing batteries or checking it's got the right time, it's well built, comfortable and a lot lighter than you'd expect considering it's quite a chunky watch. What's not to like?

Adjusting the bracelet to fit can be a bit fiddly but a quick google to find out how and some poking around with a paperclip got it done in about 10 minutes.
