The watch is smaller than your average G-Shock, but large enough to still look fairly 'bulky'. It still looks like a G-Shock. I'm a powerlifter with good size wrists and I feel a regular Model looks too large. With this one, It's comfortable to wear and solid as a rock.
The light is sufficient, you can read the whole dial.
As with my previous model that uses the same strap, you can buy these for around £15 should you need a replacement.
Overall I would highly recommend. This will be my work watch and I look forward to wearing it.
Plus side:Looks ok and modern and tough.
Minuses: The negative display makes it hard to read the time. Also, day appears after month and this can't be changed (while stupid week counting method has 3 settings!). Also, I'm sure the wrist band will go after a year or 2 max, it's not thicker or anything than a cheapo Casio 1/5th the price.
i will return it, can't get used to the display. EDIT: I did get used to the display, glad I kept it, after several months of daily use (never take it off), there is not the smallest scratch on the screen.
Second edit: changing my review from 4 stars to 2 because after a single hot shower, the watch seems to have developed moisture INSIDE the glass. It went away after a few days but this is a sign of bad seals, and surely at some point the moisture will cause the electronics to fail. My others cheapo 20-25 Euro Casio watches NEVER had this issue! G-shock? for real? seriously?
Quality is superb, really tough and rugged, but not too bulky on your wrist. Watch strap is rubber and comfortable, has plenty of holes to get the right fit.
The display is clear in the right light, but can sometimes be difficult to read because of the black background. This watch will light up though when you press the "G" button at the bottom. Looks really cool and futuristic!
Law enforcement and military all over the world use these for a good reason, they will take a beating. I swam everyday in this watch on holiday and there is no sign of a breach, that was in the sea and a pool (and a hot tub).
Once you have got your head around all the settings, it is quite easy to use. And the manual isn't as thick as you think, so don't be put off, most of it is other languages.
A real cool feature is the animated 5 second countdown and beeping for the stopwatch.
Knocked stars off as negative display isn't visible in some lights. The display is also divided into different lines and the size of some of the digits can be difficult to read especially for countdown timer in some conditions.
