I'm going back to study after many, many years away, and one of the first modules is on maths. So I bought myself this calculator as the natural text input is essential.

It is leaps and bounds ahead of the calculator that I had twenty-five years ago, and I love it.

It comes with a nice little manual helps you get familiar with all of its features. I've had no problems getting up to speed with it. The case is sensible, and I like the big, easy-to-read display. Having both a battery and solar charging, it shouldn't crap out during an exam.

It was also very reasonably priced, although I must admit that some of the buttons feel a little cheap. However, for the price, I'm very happy indeed.

Bought this for my son for his degree course. It's a good calculator but the instructions seem to be limited. We had to experiment with different settings for it to come up with what we considered sensible answers. The instructions don't mention about the initialisation process which seemed to be needed.

I had a Casio fx85ms for GCSE(which still works 10+years on!) and wanted an upgrade since I'm now doing degree level mathematics. The display on this is great. Being able to see numbers as fractions with numbers on top rather than doing brackets and dividing signs all in one line, is such a great help for when doing complex math problems. There are many features inside this which I have not got to yet. The instructions I'm sure don't explain it all in that much detail, but if you're studying maths then you will know what the functions are.

Also this is I think the exact same as the 995 just from different region.

I think this is the most advanced calculator which is widely accepted in exams that prohibit the larger programmable/graphing calculators.

It looks beautiful (compared to my last calculator at least)!

Love the fact that one can differentiate and integrate on this one!

Solar panel? Yeah baby! :D

Nothing else to say, good product!

I had previously the FX-991ESPLUS and it was amazing. This is just a small upgrade from the other one. The difference is not major but I did notice that it will give me more results than the other other one. For instance when calculating the roots of a liner equation on the 115 the max/min points are calculated as well, however in the 9915 it wasn't.
I used it through my entire schooling and it has been the best calculator. Very easy to use, specially the option of being able to write full fractions. It also has lots of other setup such as Matrices or Equations among others. For A-level students this is the calculator I used and it was allowed during exam. It also was a great help in me achieving an A.

It is however true that the calculator I received was the new model which has rounded edges like on this page : [...]

The one shown on this page is the older model (bit squared).

This calculator is tagged as "advanced". It surely is just that. I grew up with a book of logarithms and a slide rule, they are still in my loft. This superb piece of kit does every calculation I am ever likely to throw at it and the cost of it is just shirt buttons. Excellent.

The fx-115ES is a very versatile machine. I bought it mainly to do bin/oct/dec/hex conversions (I'm a technical IT professional) but it can do so many other things. After 4 weeks I still haven't tried all the functions.
Very useful is the ANS key which will allow you to use the result of the previous calculation anywhere in your current calculation.
To sum it up, it's a nice calculator with lots of power for an affordable price.

This is the best calculator I've ever owned. Though I've not owned many calculators. I'm studying for my masters degree in Structural Engineering and this calculator hasn't let me down yet. I recently found out that it can do up to 3x3 matrices. It's a gift that just keeps on giving. In addition to being a faultless piece of engineering genius, it has a cool silver face so all the other engineers are jealous of how it's better than their calculators.
You will need to know how to use a calculator or this will be useless to you.
