Reviewers are complaining about this superbwatch resetting. There is a very simple solution. The problem is the battery holder works loose after a while or even weak at manufacture. When next changing battery or before just take the battery and retainer spring and give it a very slight bend. When you replace it there will be more tension pushing down on the battery which stops it unconnecting and resetting. I've have mine for 4 years and now it's done it never resets. I have just purchased this be one with the bracelet and done the adjustment straight away so I never get the problem at all with the new one. One tip keep the dust out and smear a tiny amount of vasalene on the seal to ensure it's water tight a few refitting the back. I cant praise this watch highly enough. Ive has G-Shocks at 10 times the price that don't perform as well. Hope that helps you decide.

Casio were my husband's favourite brand of watch so, when he wanted 'the ultimate digital watch' I opted for this for him to take advantage of the radio-controlled time keeping.
Unfortunately, I didn't read online reviews before buying!
The only fault (it's a real killer fault actually) is that, after about 2 years, the watch keeps resetting itself to 12:00 January 1st, 2005 for no apparent reason.
A call to the Casio Technical Help Line was most revealing - I described the fault and the girl immediately told me the type of watch I was referring to. In other words, I was not the first!
In a nutshell, DON'T BUY THIS WATCH IF YOU WANT IT TO LAST MORE THAN 2 YEARS.

For:
1. Accurate split second timekeeping.
2. Alarm function.
3. World time.
4. Timer function.
5. Light.
6. Waterproof.
7. No more resetting the time (radio controlled).
Against:
1. Once acrylic corners on main body break it's no longer wearable (still works well for years. Previous personal experience).
2. Can be awkward to set manually.

These are excellent watches and are waterproof (personally I wouldn't go deeper than the local swimming pool, but that's not to say you can't go deeper). I bought this as a replacement. Decided to go for the metal strap as I've had one of these before (bought from a highstreet store years ago). It's still working but sadly is not wearable anymore (hence the personal experience in my review, and the early review itself).

A great all-round watch and it's radio controlled.

Potentially, this is a great watch with great features and very accurate time keeping but in practise it's none of these things because it's mechanically flawed rubbish. Just like many other reviewers mine lasted around 12 months before it started resetting itself back to 1 January 2005. And let's be clear here, re-setting the time manually, changing the battery or any other trick like turning off the auto time receiver doesn't help - the watch is simply flawed and will continuing to reset itself to 1 January 2005. I can't understand why Casio haven't withdrawn this watch from sale completely as it is clearly not fit for purpose. Bottom line is if you want a watch that's going to last you no more than a year or two then buy it, otherwise find something else.

This watch has all the functions I want like stopwatch, countdown timer, multi time zone and is radio controlled. While it works it is very good value for money but after being used for a couple of years it starts resetting itself to 1-1-2005. This is a known fault. I have lived with it through two watches but this will be my last as it is really quite annoying! It is a shame as there does not seem to be a suitable alternative (unless somebody out there knows of one?)

This is my second watch in this version and both have been excellent. I reviewed the previous one I bought on here.
But have just experienced a Casio service issue that might be worth sharing.
The watch has been behaving perfectly, but noticed on 13th March recently that it had stopped connecting to the atomic clock. Nothing had changed in my circumstances and certainly no change regarding reception area.
I tried all the suggestions in the manual and after all these years I am fairly confident in how it operates.
So a couple of days ago I contacted Casio support.
Unfortunately I had chosen a day to ring just after the clocks went forward. He said that a lot of people had been ringing with the problem..
He said it was because the atomic clock system couldnt cope with the number of changes!!!??? I will treat that with a pinch of salt and do further Google searches on that issue.
Anyway, when I could get a word in edgeways I said mine had the problem nearly 2 weeks before..
He suggested that I tried to manually connect at midday. If that wouldn't work it would have to be returned for investigation.
I was reluctant to have to package it up and pay postage etc so followed his advice. Also I think there may be a risk of having to pay if they find nothing wrong.
Low and behold it worked !!!! It wasn't the first time I had tried the manual connection and it was by now a number of days after the time change.
I'm not sure what I have learnt. My initial reaction to Casio support was not positive, but on the other hand it's working.
EDIT...
It's now not working again. I believe that if I keep on manually connecting it might work. But certainly isn't updating automatically overnight any more.
