If you have not read any of this series, I would urge you to read them in order; they will be much more rewarding, and well worth your time.
I was also frustrated by the poor editing and grammar with this book. A change in the storyline should see a new paragraph or chapter, but there are changes midway through a paragraph. Or a new chapter starts which is just a continuation of the previous sentence/storyline you had just read. Overall the book just felt rushed and hurried, a brain dump of words onto paper, which is a shame as the others had not been like that.
The ending of the story maybe a little too sentimental or plain silly for some, however I enjoyed it and it gives a real perspective of what it must be like for ageing warriors and generals to feel. Nowhere near being a great book for me, on its own its poor in parts but overall I very much enjoyed the series and would recommend them.
My only comment would be that it would have been fitting if Spartacus Jr. had given the coup de grace.
It took a while to get Carrhae but it was worth the wait.

A very good read with accuracy of historic detail. It concludes the story of The Parthian, Parthian Dawn and Parthian Vengeance.Published 1 month ago by Michael Cutter
What a marvellous set of books. This won even better than the other three. Have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Where do I go from herePublished 10 months ago by Elaine Mulvenna
Thank you Mr darman. Very much enjoyed the series. This one seemed to peter out a bit and I thought it all became a bit mawkish. Having said that you kept me reading so thank you.Published 15 months ago by Drew
