Top customer reviews
This is a different concert from the original Santana Montreaux festival because Santana only comes in a few times to play with Guy, Parker and Brown.
The three "guests" are amazing, I haven't watched all of Clarence "Gatemouth"s section yet but Bobby Parker and especially Buddy Guy are soo good. You can see why Guy has been credited as one of the best because of his showmanship and stage presence (even walking through the audience with a long guitar lead playing).
His is definately my favourite section with one of my favourites: 'Drowning on Dry Land'.
This also brings to light his band which features an excellent rhythm guitarist who even has a ripping solo a great drummer and bassist who demonstrates slap bass so well, all of them look like they are having the time of their lives on stage!
The songs where Santana joins them are great; one of my favourites being 'Chill Out' with Bobby Parker.
This definately is worth watching even if you haven't really heard much Buddy Guy, Clarence Brown or Bobby Parker. I originally got this because Santana was on it but I got so much more out of it after watching Buddy Guy.
A must for any blues fan or any of the above, amazing.
Finally, a DVD which captures the great man at his best. The set includes 3 DVDs - each showing a full set from the 3 named artists. Each includes an encore/jam session with Carlos Santana and other guests too.
I've really only watched the Buddy Guy set so far and it is superb. With his regular touring band behind him Buddy demonstrates his full range of talents, and his quite incredible vocals and guitar playing.
There's a few acoustic numbers to start with and then Buddy straps on his polka-dot Strat and lets fly with some classic blues numbers. His band is top notch, esp Jay Moynihan on sax and there's also a tremendous jam with Carlos Santana to round off.
The sound and picture quality is first class, and the quality of the package is excellent with a nice booklet included too.
One minor gripe - Buddy's trademark walk through the audience isn't captured by the cameramen. You can hear him but you can't see him! Can't knock of a star for that though.

really gave a great show, and such a pleasant person to meet after the show.
On this fabulous DVD set he is backed by a cracking band playing a great set of top rate material. But wait there's more in fact two more discs of the
best blues around from Gatemouth Brown sadly no longer with us,but what a
way to remember him with such a storming set as this. Then of course,Buddy
Guy,what can you say,one of the greatest bluesmen of all time and such an
inspiration to so many current blues guitar heroes.Whether acoustic or
electric he's sensational, with that lovely smile of his before the next
solo removes the wallpaper,A wonderful set of classic blues as well as some of Buddys own great songs. With some special guest musicians, each
artist doing a full set, well if your a bluesfan get it you certainly will
not for one second be diasappointed. FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY.
