I bought this book for my 16-year-old son and I think it’s an excellent guide for anyone considering the plumbing and heating industry as a career option. Well written and easy to read, it highlights the broad range of possible areas to specialise in, different routes to employment, and the essential attributes and qualifications needed to progress in the industry. Running to just under a hundred pages, it’s not too daunting to read through and each chapter is informative and easy to digest. Despite the short length, there is still space to include assessment tests, a series of case studies and a helpful section on frequently asked questions. Anyone who spends some time with this book should have a much better idea if plumbing is going to be the right line of work for them. In fact, you would be ill-advised to embark on a plumbing career without having read this first.

A Career in Plumbing
Plumbing and heating engineering are two strategically important occupations. This publication provides an excellent introduction to careers in these industries. Written in an authoritative, highly informative and user friendly way it provides information on apprenticeships, qualifications and what being a plumber and heating engineer entails. Case studies provide fascinating insights into the occupations and a comprehensive set of useful contacts in education and training is also included.
A very valuable addition to careers education and a must for careers service, college, school and public libraries as well as for general readership. I recommend it without any reservations
