Size:14" Round Based Wok

The wok is just about the most versatile cooking pan there is. It is used most for stir frying, but you can also use it for shallow frying, deep frying, steaming, making Chinese soups, and even smoking food with wood chips or tea leaves. You need the wok lid to do smoking, of course. The long single handle enables you to hold the wok steady with one hand while holding whatever you are stirring with in the other. We supply two main shapes of wok. The round bottom wok is more suited to use in commercial kitchens, or cookers with a really good gas burner that can hold a round shape. Round Based Wok

Forget "non-stick" woks, this is a real wok! 2000 or so years of cultural and culinary development have gone into this simple yet perfect pan. After proper "seasoning" of the wok (instructions provided with the product or look online) it is a truely phenomenal piece of kitchen kit. It's basic, it is what it is - a quality wok, the likes of which you don't tend to find in any UK high street chain store. If you're lucky enough to have a Chinatown near you, you probably aren't looking online for a wok, if you don't and have a decent gas hob then you could do a lot worse than this excellent wok.

This is a really good wok, if you looking for the original one then this is it!. I seasoned it according to instructions and I also fried some chives and ginger after Grace Yung's advice on Y tube in order to get rid of any metallic taste. I used it the same day and I loved it! It cooks very nicely and it doesn't stick at all, much better than my old non stick wok. Wash it only with water!

What a great product, after having had many non stick woks (which always stick in the end) we decided to go for a full steel based one. Looking at reviews on how to seal a wok (and YouTube videos) we were confident we could so bought this, you must seal a steel wok !! This one will not disappoint, well made and solid. This is a large wok, unless you have a range cooker a smaller wok might be better, but we have a large gas hob with a wok stand so not an issue.

I am a chef with 27 years in the kitchen and I have to say these woks are the real deal. You literally cannot buy better than this. Once the seasoning is on, this will blow ANYTHING away. No non stick can't match it. But be warned, Seasoning these woks is everything!! Research wok seasoning thoroughly. YouTube, chowhound etc. Have a good go at it. You can't damage these things. If all goes wrong, just scrub off the seasoning and start again. Easy. If you really struggle, which you shouldn't, take it to your local Chinese take away and ask them if they will do it for you. It really helps if you learn a couple of greetings in Chinese. They really like it when you try. Anyway, don't be tempted to buy some super expensive wok, especially a non stick one. These are simply the best you can buy. Peace

Fab wok, don't pay 20-30 quid for a wok or a wok with non stick coating (teflon isn't good for the high heat cooking that a wok produces anyway). This is a REAL wok that should outlast any of those woks providing you look after it with love and dedication (yes i used those words for a wok). Meaning you should never wash it with soap, never scrub it either. Just leave it soak in warm/hot water and you can wash it with your hands or nails frankly if seasoned properly. If you do this and maintain that seasoning it will knock spots of any non stick teflon coated junk wok once you season it, it just gets better and better. I've had mine for about 18 months and couldn't be happier with it. GIven it's carbon steal it WILL rust badly if water is left on it. I rub coconut butter over it after use to keep it in tip top condition.

I also got the 14 inch version but I hardly use it. The 10inch is perfect for my cooking but that too is of the same standard. Its more wobbly given its 14 inches but it too is a fabulous wok. The handle is solid on both and I mean solid, no give what so ever which cannot be said for a lot of branded woks costing 20-30 quid. Like I say just buy this, its a no nonsense, does what its meant to wok and is a REAL bargain

Bought this to replace a rather naff non stick one. I already have a larger carbon steel wok and wanted something for smaller quantities. It's a good strong wok. OK, it needs seasoning to start with and needs a light oiling before storage, but that's not really a problem. Cooks well, but the heavy handle on the 12" cause it to tilt when it rests on the wok ring without food in it.

very good item. I bought a wok ring to go with it which was a bit difficult to use because it moves about the cooker taking the wok with it, but I found that with use it got easier. I followed the instructions printed on the plastic bag on how to season it using a wire scourer and a bit of washing up liquid.It was quite easy to do and the wok went black like its supposed to. Its a treat cooking with a wok as I prepare everything first and cook each ingredient separately (apart from the noodles) making sure the heat level is maintained, and then put them all back into the wok with the noodles and the result is very nice. I particularly like the aroma of the cooking as it smells so good even after cooking.Be sure not to put too much oil in as it tends to spit I would say half to one tablespoon is enough and you can always add a bit more if needed when cooking. the handle does make the wok tilt but I found that as I used the wok more I got used to it but be careful as because of the tilt the handle gets really hot where it joins onto the wok so watch those pinkies. This wok has become a very handy item in my kitchen and I'm so pleased I took the plunge and bought one.

Properly seasoned this wok is very none stick. I am still learning about Chinese cooking but have been having long sought after successes lately, after many years of trying!

I have learned a few things as well. For example, I discovered that if I put corn starch on the chicken before I stir fry, it ends up sticking to the wok eventually despite the beautiful seasoning I think I did, but if I do not use corn starch, the chicken does not stick AT ALL. I just rub it clean and rinse it will a little soap especially around the top edges, to get it clean. Then I always put it back on the stove for a couple minutes to make sure all the water is complete gone to prevent rusting. And if part of the coating seems to come off, I just put some oil in there and cook it "real good" until it's repaired.

I love that you can make your stove as HOT as you like and I think I like that it cools down quite quickly when you take it off the heat.

One issue I have with my stove is it doesn't stay balanced easily. My stove is bad in that way though.
