Well, home page website WinLoveCry.com is of a Porsche so I've always super loved the brand, and the Porsche in Test Drive for the Commodore 64 :).
I got this movie for a few pounds and IMO it's great... Obviously old camera style but didn't bother me. The on board footage is incredible and worth many watches, which I will do!

Even after 40yrs this stands endless rewatching.

Derek Bell, a Rothmans (read Porsche Werk) 956, in-car camera, and classic circuits before they got Tilke'd.

Just compare Silverstone GP then with the mess it is now!

Oh yes and IIRC that's the 4th fastest lap ever of the Nordschleiffe, so just how fast was Jackie Ickx going when he passed Derek?

Considering that this in-car footage was made before the age of digital recordings it remains for me of of the best examples of what motor racing used to be and without incessant voice-overs. Just listen to to the engine and gearbox sounds and watch someone who experienced opposite locking and overtaking. Worth it even if only to watch one of Britain's finest drivers tackle Le Mans & the Nurenburg Ring as it used to be when driving was a skill and not the manipulation of on-board computers.

OK - I'm a motorsport head and loved watching this initially but, and yes I know it was a created a long time ago, it's not worth the cash really. Poor quality. Make it £5 and you're ok. It's all very samey - apart from the circuits obviously - but after the LeMans circuit view, everything else isn't really worth it. More Derek Bell - great but all in-car footage same really and same comments he makes... yawn. Oh, and it won't play in iDVD on a Mac - you need to use another DVD player! Lovely to hear the 956 driven by a legend at full chat round circuits but it's not as though it's racing so it's a bit dull. It did fill 50 mins on a wet evening though.

As on board footage seems so rare on DVD this one is a gem. It is on board footage and nothing else. It has some flaws so be warned. eg: The wind noise almost drowns out other noises on a couple of circuits. The view is always compromised by the left wiper! The good bits make it worthwhile. eg: brands, nurburgring, spa and the sense of outright speed at le mans is jaw dropping. I don't think i'd fancy paying full price however. The marketplace is the best bet for this one.

Had this in NTSC video but could only find DVD in PAL. Have a region-free DVD and was pleased to find this DVD to replace VHS.

I purchased this dvd direct from Duke in Febuary 05 and it certainly doesnot disappoint. It is so good it made me purchase a Playstation 2 so that I could access the Nurbergring course on the annoyingly difficlt Gran Tourismo 4 disc.I even placed an order with Diecast Legends for their yet to be released collectors quality model of the 1982 winning Porche 956T that is shown in the DVD.Derek Bell setting the fifth fastest lap of the Nerbegring in a time of 6min 37sec seems quite impressive.

The mind blowing course record for the 13.1mile long Nerbergring is 6min 11 set by the late Stephan Bellof in his warmup qualifying lap of the 1983
1000k race.Only one street legal road car has broken the 7 minute barrier and that is the Radical SR8 and many highly tuned race cars have tried over the years. This makes Bells 6min 37 that more impressive because he had a very expensive camera mounted next to him in the car so really he couldnot drive flat out.

The highlite has to be Bell driving down the famous Muslanne straight at nearly 240mph.Words cannot portray how fast the scenery flashes bye,it has to be seen to be believed.Another impressive moment is when Bell leaves the pit lane at Le Man for his warm up lap.The acceleration from standstill to near race speed is breathtaking.

Not quite so dramatic is the sequence at the racetrack at Mount Fugi in Japan.Acceleration passing other cars is impressive and clearly shows how powerfull the Porche was. This is not a dvd that you whatch once and put down and forget about it.You return to it again and again and appriciate how good the five times Le Man winner Derek Bell is at driving fast

.If you are looking for a dvd to enjoy and visualise what true speed is really like order a copy of this excellent disc either direct from Duke or from any other reputal source I PROMISE YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH YOUR PURCHASE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Einfach genial !
Reviewed in Germany on 16 June 2008

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolut Klasse !!
Reviewed in Germany on 30 November 2009
