This is my first book that I've read by Shelley & let me just say that when I first opened it & started to read, I was shoked & a little daunted when I saw the amount of pages it had. There are over 800 of them (well there is on my iBooks copy), first thoughts were, this is going to take forever to read.... Let me put your mind at ease, although the book is long, it was an enthralling read, keeping me hooked in the story from the very start. 'Captured & Seduced' is book 1 in the "House Of The Cat" series, & if book 1 is anything to go by, I can't wait to read book 2 or the rest of the series.

Camryn is going into a major downward spiral, since the death of her husband. Drunkedly checking on the horses on the farm, she is kidnapped by aliens, Captian Ryman both scares & fascinates her. Camryn has been kidnapped to help them capture & train a hell-horse, ready to race & win. Panther shifter Ryman is drawn towards Camryn like there's no tomorrow, his cat craves her like it's never craved before.....

I do recommend you read this book, set on distant planets, always moving forward, fast paced.. I love the interation between Camryn & Ryman, although she's scared she stands up for herself & doesn't automatically surrender fully to Ryman. We get multiple POV's, but Shelley has made it so it's easy to differenciate between the characters. I can't wait to read what happens next in the "House Of The Cat" series.

Feline shapeshifter Ryman Coppersmith will do whatever it takes to clear his name including kidnapping Jockey Camryn O’Sullivan in order to win a hell-horse race but he doesn’t count on the passion Camryn’s arrival triggers in this exciting sci-fi romance.

Camryn has spiraled into a deep alcoholic depression since her husband died and when she’s kidnapped by aliens she’s both terrified and fascinated by Ryman but she’s sure he’s done something weird to cause her attraction. The reader can’t help but get caught up in all the tension and expectation that flows through this story from beginning to end and the chemistry between Cam and Ry explodes from the pages into some frequent scorching hot sex scenes but the relationship is not an easy one, especially as Cam wants to return home. Warning: the characters are strong, compelling, full of attitude and really demand the reader’s attention at all times and the fast paced and smooth flowing plot ensures that the characters get their wish with lots of suspense, excitement and passion.

There is never a dull moment among this crew as they train a hell-horse to race in a disturbing derby all while barely dodging lethal attacks against their persons and Ryman’s brother manages to cause a lot of strife and mayhem as well. Vivid imagery brings the story and fascinating world to life as the well written scenes and details capture the imagination and the suspense and events keeps readers on their toes with lots of action, excitement and some unexpected twists.

This is an edgy and sexy world full of intriguing characters, interesting and unique elements to keep things spicy and different. I was completely enthralled with the story from the very beginning and I can’t wait to be kidnapped by Ryman and his crew again so I can find out what happens next.

Sadly this book was not for me either. I had expected rather better after some of the glowing reviews here.
At 30% through the book I struggled to carry on reading and just about managed to skim read through the rest.
Descriptions of the physical side of the romance were too graphic and coarse to be sexy. A few of the more lurid depictions actually had me saying "yuk!". Even worse was the orgasmic neck-biting scenes. I don't find neck-biting sexy and avoid vampire romances for that reason so it's always disappointing when I find it in a non-vampire book too.
The portrayal of aliens and alien culture was laughable. The deliberate mis-spelling of swear words in an effort to make it sound more exotic seemed childish at first sight and quickly got tiresome from there. At the same time there was common use of English names which had me scratching my head in confusion. I get that 'Coppersmith' might be the English translation of an alien name which literally means copper-smith, but why would aliens name a horse Lucifer or Dante or any other Earth-specific name?
The two stars is for the character of Ry, who at least had a well-rounded and likeable character. For the rest, it felt to me like the author happened to like cats, horses, aliens, sex and Jane Austen novels and threw a story together from those themes in any random combination.

This is a really good shifter romance. I loved the fact that it didn't follow the pattern of most other shifter romances. There are many twists and turns, as well as a traitor.
I did feel that the story dragged on a bit and finished quite quickly. The final answers were told within a few pages, bringing it to an abrupt end..it left more questions!
It doesn't put me off buying the other books in the series!
