Ok i will start by saying that i haven't read Rachel Van Dyken's Seaside Series, so wasn't familiar with this cast of characters as they made their reappearance in Capture. But let me tell you i will be reading it now for sure.
They are a fantastic bunch of secondary characters and now i have a need to know their stories.
Rachel Van Dyken can write sweet, funny, emotion filled stories like no one else, she makes you physically feel the pain, sadness, joy and love and i loved every word of the book, it was a joy to lose myself in its pages for a few hours.
This endearing story shows that PTSD is not exclusive to the military, it can happen to anyone who has suffered a traumatic life event such as the one Danni experienced.
The way in which all Danni's family and friends treated her and her inability to speak was the typical wrap her up in cotton wool and protect her from the world. But the way in which Linc approached it was to treat her no different from any other person and show her how to reconnect with the world again.
Lincoln Greene has it all, he's hot, famous, and has money but that doesnt make him the usual arrogant self centred jerk. He really is a nice guy, hes good at is job and comes across as genuine.
I adored how sarcastic and snarky Danni is and the building relationship between her and Linc really ignited that side of her at times making me laugh.
The sexual tension was out of this world for Linc and Danni, and i think Linc deserves a medal for holding out as long as he did!
This was a brilliant read.
This book had me hooked from the beginning. Since I haven't read the Seaside novels, the characters weren't familiar to me, but that actually didn't matter at all. You still saw them for who they were and had no trouble catching up. Nice job Ms. Van Dyken, because sometimes it can feel like you're lost when you haven't read anything else. But not here.
When it comes to the story, I can only say that I sucked it up like nothing else. Whenever I wasn't reading I wished I was, simply because I wanted to see what happened. Dani and Linc had such a chemistry that you couldn't help but fall in love with them. Both are such strong personalities, that each had to overcome their own obstacles to get to where they are now. While Dani is mute, Linc never lets that get to him. Quite the opposite, he does everything in his power to make Dani talk. And it's a beautiful thing to read about.
But not only Dani and Linc are amazing, but also the other characters (from the Seaside novels). Like I said, I didn't know them before, but I instantly fell in love with them during this book. It made me fall so hard that I've started reading the first Seaside book right away. I just needed to learn more about those characters.Read more ›
