Very interesting account with a lot of focus on the day to day activities such as keeping the horses fed and clean. The type of detail which is often missing from the history books. You can feel his frustration and anger when something goes wrong and it means that his horses can't be fed or watered.
The book contains not just letters and diaries but a lot of background and biographical information as well which is very interesting.
