My favourites on Disc One are Jimmy Mack, The Israelites, Pretty Flamingo, When You Walk In The Room, Mrs Robinson and Swinging On A Star. On Disc Two I love Son Of A Preacher Man, Runaway, Turn Turn Turn and Where Do You Go To My Lovely. All the songs are truly excellent though and demonstrate the lovely variety of styles of that famous decade.
My only complaint is the lack of anything by Donovan, Françoise Hardy, Joan Bees, The Rolling Stones or The Beatles, since these artists are synonymous with the 60s. Besides that sin of omission, this is a wonderful compilation that is worth its weight in gold.
It is exactly what it says on the cover.
Having been a teenager in the glorious 60's and now a pensioner, I have been on a nostalgic trip, buying music of the period, often buying an album in order to get a track or two that was not already in my collection.
As, I feel sure, most "Oldies" will agree, even when you want only a track or two, hearing a new arrangement of your favourites is always enjoyable.
If you love the music of the era (and who can fail to), go for it - you will not be disappointed.
