Got this after my ageing HP died on me and I couldn't be happier, this thing is a beast!
Build Quality - 4*, with a piano black finish (shows up finger prints though, so be prepared to wipe it)
Print Quality - 5*, the colours are vibrant and the detail is above and beyond my old model.
Scanner - 4*, great quality scans but does make the images lighter than in real life, so be prepared to dim them slightly if you want them exactly right.
WiFi - 5* Setup easily over WiFi to all my machines (Windows 7 x64, Windows Vista x64 and Windows XP) flawlessly, just punch in your WPA/WEP key and the software sorts the rest
I'm not really bothered about speed of prints so I'll leave that for someone else to comment on.

I've used the MP560 before and If you're stuck between the two I'd say get this one, the extra features, design and print quality are all improved over the previous model.

This is a large, smart printer; with all the trays out you need a space about 48 by 66cm.
My wireless network uses MAC address filtering and I struggled to find the printer MAC address, it's not printed anywhere, I actually found it hidden in one of the menus," LAN setup". I then found I needed to download the latest drivers from the Canon site to get it working with windows 7.
Once set up the printer is very easy to use, I found the photocopier and scanner functions intuitive. The ability to scan a document as a PDF to a USB memory stick is particularly useful. You can scan in mono or colour. There is a cassette at the front for paper and a second tray at the rear so, for example, you can load plain paper and photo paper and select between the two.
You can print photos directly from memory cards, including compactflash, and a memory stick. The photos are shown on the LCD and there is a plethora of print options e.g. ID cards, calendars, contact strips, stickers, printing the image onto printable CDs etc. There is even an option to print the photos onto a simulated 35mm film-strip.
I plugged a Belkin Bluetooth dongle into the USB port at the front and found I was able to make a connection and print the photos on my phone through Bluetooth.
The print quality is up to the high standard you expect from Canon, a little noisy feeding the paper but quiet, fast printing. The print cartridges seem to be lasting well too.
Recommended.

Having updated to wireless router and pc the next thing to do was replace my ageing Epson Stylus printer. I use Canon digital SLRs and having read some reviews thought that one of their wireless printers would fit the bill perfectly, enabling me to print directly from my cameras if I wanted to using the PictBridge system. I don't know about you but I am always a bit apprehensive with anything that comes with an instruction manual more than 2 pages long, but I need not have worried. The Canon starter manual told me everything I needed to know in simple, logical steps. It was only a question of finding my router 'key' number for the wireless connection and the software did the rest. It really did take only about 20 minutes to set up the whole thing and everything worked perfectly first time. I immediately tried standard black & white text printing and have to say that, having used a variety of laser printers at work, the MG5250 produces copies just as crisp - you would be hard pushed to differentiate the results from this ink-jet. Then I tried printing some good quality 6MB colour shots, both using PictBridge and from the pc, and the results on semi-matt paper were absolutely stunning. Copying is a doddle too, and everything is so easy to control. I have used this printer for 5 weeks now and honestly cannot fault it (and I'm not that easy to please!) To sum up, if you're looking for a reasonably priced quality ink-jet printer the Canon MG5250 will not disappoint - it's well-built, easy to use and (especially for those of a nervous disposition!) simple to set up. Look no further.

Having read the reviews on this printer and looked it up on the internet I went ahead and bought it and it was the right decision. It was easy to install - in fact I had it up on running on both laptops within 40 minutes. The printing is good quality and very quick. The photo quality is excellent. In fact I can't think of a bad word to say about it - it's so good I'm going to buy another one.

Why could my previous printers not have been this easy to set up and use? Idiot-proof step by step installation booklet and simple set up procedures meant I had it up and running in no time at all. I have struggled in the past with using printers wirelessly on my Apple Airport Extreme network (Samsung CLP-315 is very temperamental). The Canon was very easy to connect; I can now print and scan wirelessly from my iMac (OSX 10.6) and my Windows Vista laptop. The print quality and speed are excellent, and the enclosed software is easy to use. A fantastic machine!

Brilliant piece of kit - fingermarks (mine) accepted! Superb photographic detail and the instructions for set up are exemplary. I'm no expert but I had it all set up and connected in 2 hours. Delivery exactly 24 hours from order -only gripe is that in 24 hours the price dropped £8. Must learn not to rush in. A very good and well thought out product thoroughly recommended.
