So far so good...
The printer arrived ahead of the predicted timescale (as all my Amazon products normally do).Unwrapping was straightforward and the first thing I found was a quick set-up guide, which was really useful and worked a treat (no need to use the main manual at all). The printer came complete with guides etc (as expected), a software CD with loads of great features, telephone cable and adapter (for the fax function), a USB cable (in case you don't want to use Wi-Fi) and two standard ink cartridges (black & colour). I've never owned a wireless printer, so it's a real bonus being able to store the printer in a convenient place where I have more room, instead of trying to make it fit next to the PC.I've tried printing in high quality and `fast' quality (otherwise known as draft etc); the print quality is very good and even in `fast' mode, the output is fast and still good enough for letters and the kid's school homework etc (not covered in lines or misaligned), which is handy because refills are not that cheap (although I've seen standard refill kits and I'm tempted to try topping up myself..).I haven't tried the fax yet but the copier and scanner can be operated by one-touch at the printer or easily from the PC.The digital display/menu is pretty easy to navigate and overall, I've had no issues with this printer so far at all so at this stage, I would recommend this printer, especially as it only cost circa £50!!!

I wanted a simple multi-function device that was wireless so multiple PC's / tablets could attach. So far both win 7 and 8 PC's have attached flawlessly and my wife's iPad printed to it first time with zero set-up.

The freedom to place it where I want without having to worry about cable routes, manual switch boxes etc is wonderful.

It's not fast but is fine for home. Haven't tried to scan yet.

Set up was a breeze - a couple of settings to choose on the printer display panel, press the WPS switch on the router when prompted and job nearly done. Set-up is then completed from a PC. First one takes about 10 minutes but subsequent PC's only need the drivers and the set-up automatically detects the existing set-up printer and skips the printer set-up steps.

Haven't used the scan feature yet, and unlikely to use fax facility as that just introduces a cable to tether the unit.

UPDATE 28/05/13
I have used the printer for a few days now. Printing is fine and the manual duplex system works well. I have used the scanner extensively to digitise pages of a booklet, with no problems at all. Performance of wifi does not seem to be unduly slow, although I am scanning at low quality. Best of all, it integrates with Apple Airprint automatically so is able to print from my wife's PC with no hassle at all.

UPDATE 6/6/13
I have now used the wifi scanning to scan a stack of photos, some as large as 10 x 8. The speed is not amazing but is perfectly acceptable for a budget device and the quality is excellenet. There is also clever software that detects and auto crops to the actual photo size. Excellent

It was incredibly easy to set the printer up - even linking it into my network took about 10 seconds (walk to router, press "WPS" button).

However, one or two inconveniences drop it down a star :

1. You either have to remove paper or leave paper tray protruding when not in use;

2. Bringing down the output tray gives a horrible plastic scraping over plastic edge sound, as though something's just about to snap off.

3. Printing direct from iPad offers no choice of paper size - it must be 6" * 4"

4. The software to print photos (My Image Garden) is absolutely terrible. It took me two days to work out how to select different layouts.

It's unintuitive, and the guide merely describes individual steps, with little on how to move from one to another.

The old software (Easy-Photo) was a joy to use - four simple steps which you went through in turn.

However, these are minor things. For a budget all-in-one which produces (eventually) good photos, you can put up with a few snags.

I've had two paper jams in eight print jobs
Attempting to Duplex went horribly wrong - it printed pages 1-56 (of 112) then printed pages 1-56 again on the back, not 57-112.

Apart from that it's small, cheap, wifi works well and the print quality is great (when it works).

This printer managed OK for about four weeks - as an entry level printer it did the job and the print quality was acceptable, even if the connection over wifi was very, very slow.

However, the printer shut down on me with an error code 5100 after four weeks. I checked every possible mechanical problem and there were no jams, so I was forced to call Canon technical support. They were completely useless and sent me link to some dodgy company in Woking that provided the official Canon support for the whole of the UK. I've since spoken to Amazon to arrange a replacement and I cannot fault their customer support but I would advise others to avoid Canon printers in future. (Which recently did a comparative article on ink wastage/cost and found them to be the worst.)

Printer was well packaged and the instructions were clear enough for a technophobe like myself to install the printer and even set up the WIFI !! Has been running very smoothly; bit costly on replacement ink cartridges though; two XL cartridges easily set you back £33,00 ! Guess I'll have to think twice now before I print something off; other than that, the machine itself is excellent value for money and delivers good quality prints.
