After a lot of deliberating and reading other people's reviews I decided on the Canon PIXMA All-in-one Printer as it seemed right for me. I had bought a new Windows 8 laptop and my old printer wasn't compatible so getting the right one was necessary. It arrived quickly and was easy to set up. It was up and running within an hour of arriving. The unpacking took the longest! The printing is clear and the copies are good too. The only complaint I have is that the instructions aren't very clear. It tells you what the printer can do but not how to do it so it's a matter of working things out for yourself. If I can do it anybody can!!

This printer works brilliantly on the wifi network. It's very easy to use if you have the disk to set it up on a new wireless network. The print quality for a budget printer is quite good. The main problem is how quickly the printer goes through black ink! If i'd of known how much ink it would of used I wouldn't have purchased this printer!!!

As a non-techy person, I always approach a new piece of kit with a mix of anticipation and trepidation, for fear it might all be too complicated to set up. This was pretty good though.

It came well packaged and protected and was easy to unpack. The quick-start guide was pretty easy to follow and told me everything I needed to do step-by-step - at least until it got to the WiFi set-up when it unfortunately lapsed into incomprehensible jargonese, burbling on about WPS buttons and LANs. However it said if my system couldn't do this I should leap forward to another section. No idea whether my system could do it, but I certainly couldn't. So I leapt ahead as suggested and it talked me through how to connect to WiFi using a USB cable which was supplied. This worked fine.

All set to go...then error message saying wrong type of printer cartridge installed. Since what was installed was what they'd provided this seemed unlikely, so I took it out and stuck it in again and on the third attempt it worked. Don't know if that will be a recurring problem when I try to change the cartridge in future.

So the set-up was complete in about 25 minutes. The print quality is fine and it's fast enough for my low-usage purposes. It is a bit noisy - not a problem if it's only going to be used occasionally, but might be annoying in heavy use. Both scanning and photocopying work fine, though the colours are truer when using copy rather than scan and print - and in neither case are they completely true. Scanning takes a lo-o-ong time but copying is very quick. I have put the printer upstairs from both router and computer and the WiFi works fine at that range. The installed software automatically attaches itself to the start-up menu and is annoying if you don't need to be printing all the time, since it puts a big option panel on the desktop; but it gives the option to stop the auto-start from happening if you prefer.

Overall, so far, so good. It's pretty basic but for the low-quantity user who doesn't need particularly high quality scanning, it's easy to operate and does the job. For info, I'm using it with Windows 7 and a Virgin Media router. I will update the review should there be any problems.

Easy to setup. I ignored the bloatware disc and just connected it straight to my wifi using the handy WPS button and it connected to my mac and iphone no problem using AirPrint.
The quality is sufficient for myself for any reports/tickets I'll be printing and the design is nice enough to keep it atop a desk.

Great value and decent printer. For around the £50 mark I'd suggest to look no further.

This is a good printer and good value for money. The last one I had I purchased in Feb 2014. Last Saturday I put new paper in the tray and the printer took the whole through and got well and truly stuck. We did manage to get the paper out on Monday but the printer had not printed correctly since. It will now go to the dump.

Below is my original review but this is the update - after a promising start I've now given up with this machine even though I've not had it long. First few documents went through it fine and, although the print quality was pretty basic, the duplexing facility was a real boon. Then there was a paper jam; the feed had just grabbed a load of paper and munched it. After removing the paper the print heads seemed to be misaligned so I reset them but the print never really recovered. Now the feed just randomly grabs paper and lets the machine chew it all by itself for random amusement and the print is often unreadable. A sad end after a promising start.

***

Here is a very useful all-round machine - someone thought about this when they put a duplex capability in such a budget piece of equipment. And yes, it works - indeed, as I write it's producing 30 double-sided words and notice sheets for church on Sunday without the hassle of trying to remember which way to feed the paper back in after printing on one side. Full marks for the duplex!

But the ship has been spoiled for a ha'p'orth of tar - or the accountants got hold of it, more to the point.
There's no proper screen so setting-up some functions such as wifi relies on waiting for various lights to flash rather than having a clear message.
Photocopying is fine in both black and white and colour but there's no zoom capability.
The colour cartridge is just that - singular - meaning use too much yellow and you need to replace the unused magenta and cyan at the same time which is a bit of a waste.
Setting up the machine to work with the computer was not as straightforward as I would have hoped; Windows didn't recognise it but, strangely, would scan into a document while refusing to print. On second attempt it installed correctly but the accompanying software is somewhat over the top for such a basic piece of equipment. For Linux I had to search the support site for drivers (why not supplied on the disk?) but these installed well and printing - including duplexing - works fine. For scanning the software works, but with fewer functions than its Windows brother, but Canon have forgotten that Linux is mainstream these days and only supply scanning software which launches as a CLI from Terminal. Once launched, however, it works OK.

Der Artikel ist bedingt zu empfehlen. Vor allem ist das Drucken ziemlich laut du den Ton dabei empfinde ich als unangenehmes Rattern.
