- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 January 2011I bought this camera to replace my Canon Powershot 460 and I've been really pleased with my purchase.
It's an extremely easy to use camera - the buttons make perfect sense, so you're up and running within minutes. I also like the zoom ring around the shutter button which is an instinctive way to home in on the shot you want.
I wanted a camera which is light and can be taken everywhere and anytime so that I can get the opportunistic shots and video I need for my blogging and it hasn't disappointed on that score. The image quality is fantastic.
Bonuses for me are the stylish looks, much bigger viewing screen and the lithium battery recharges much quicker than the ordinary rechargables my old camera took. Battery life is good too.
A neat camera for everyday use.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 August 2010Great camera good quality, easy to use and good price. Nice size fits easily into pocket or bag. Good battery life.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 May 2012Taken the Ixus 105 on four holidays so the cheap silver paint and screen are getting quite scratched. Previously had a digital SLR so surprised to find the controls on this compact so confusing. Whenever try to load images to laptop I get a Runtime Error message, no images saved and to add insult to injury it then blanks the data card. Soooo 4 holidays, 500 or so pics taken and not a single image to show for it. Can't even register the product to get technical support, because when I type in the serial number it says it's wrong. No more Canons for me - this is going in the garbage!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 September 2012I bought this camera as a present for my brother as i had an Ixus in silver and was very happy with it . I also got the card 8G and i also got the basics case with the three items .
I examined the camera after it was delivered even though i didnt take any shots as i say it was a present for my brother but it looked very nice . Its lightweight , lighter than my Silver Ixus ..it was delivered on time with no issues . although Ixus packaging at the time of my pruchase did concern me slightly but no damage to the camera whatsoever ..
I would like to be able to comment and upload pics but obviously i cannot but i can say my brother was very happy with his surprise gift ..
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 March 2011I Have not had this camera long enough to really test it, but it certainly seems to be very good value for money, gives a good sharp picture, telephoto is also very effective.
David Thomas.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 December 2010I've owned this camera since March 2010 and pleased to say it's a great little camera, I bought it as back-up to my Cannon DLSR but to be honest its taking pictures of the same quality without the bother of carrying such a big camera around.
Easy to use and robust, mine been knocked about a bit on holidays and showing some war wounds but still working perfectly.
Great battery life and nice LCD size.
Suggest you use an 8gb SD card as this will keep up with your picture taking and the cameras battery life.
Happy snapping
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 September 2010A full review will follow once I've tried out the camera during the coming Winter months. Suffice to say that the Ixus 105 is a smart looking camera which appears to be well made and durable. It is capable of taking some really impressive shots in good lighting conditions, but it is not nearly as competent in poor lighting conditions, and the all singing and dancing Image Stabilisation system is far from perfect. Overall this is a good quality and very compact point and shoot camera that is very easy to use, but it is on the pricey side for what it is capable of. I suspect that I will end up giving my Ixus 105 to my 10 year old and buy a Fujinon EXR80 or similar !
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 April 2011I bought this for my teenage daughter, having had many Ixus's and other Canons over the years. I knew the quality would be good enough and wanted something fairly simple so that she could take her party and holiday snaps without much effort.
Happily, she's delighted with it, particularly the Night Snapshot mode which gives warmer and brighter indoor and night shots.
I was expecting this to be a success and haven't been disappointed and suggest it's maybe worth spending a bit extra for the quality of the Canon over some of the not much cheaper, but often significantly poorer quality, cameras out there.
There's no need to be seduced by constant newer, but more expensive models, as I used to have the Ixus 75 years ago, was delighted with it, and knew that this would be absolutely fine, which it is.
