The 18-135mm lense is great to use and with young children it is perfect for capturing those special moments. The only additional item I have purchased separately is a 50mm f1.8 prime lense for portraits.
I am no nerd when it comes to cameras and my Sony was on the Auto mode for most of its life, but the Canon just offers so much more, I am playing with Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, Bracketing, HRD photos, the list goes on and on.
I think the success of a camera isn't just about what functions it has but what it makes the user feel like and I am now out and about taking photos of everything from landscapes, wildlife, close up macros, the list goes on, this to me is all the evidence I need to show myself how much I am loving the camera.
The only advice I can give to anyone looking to buy a camera is go out and hold it, use it to get a real feel of it.
I also purchased a 64gb card and will need to get a spare battery in the near future as the only negative I have is you can't charge the camera via USB unlike my old Sony.
Overall, very happy with the camera and would highly recommend.
The only thing I would say is that it takes a little bit of practice to get the lighting right when in fully automatic mode. I think it picked up on the white dress in what was brilliant sunlight, hence one or two of the photos came out slightly dark, but this wasn't a problem when using the manual settings.
You can spend loads more money on a camera, but if you have a budget of £500, you won't go far wrong with this.
