Product description
Manufacturer's Description
Quality
A rugged magnesium alloy body provides the first clue that the EOS 20D is no ordinary camera. Canon's award-winning CMOS technology delivers outstanding image quality and 8.2 Megapixel resolution. The DIGIC II architecture drives blistering 5fps continuous shooting with a maximum burst of 23 frame JPEG images, class-leading colour rendition accuracy, quick start-up times and rapid display and zooming of images during in-camera review. JPEG and RAW files write simultaneously with no loss of performance.
Focus
9 auto focus points are carefully distributed across a wide area of the frame for fast, accurate focusing, even with off-centre subjects and particularly with 'rule-of-thirds' compositions.
Distance-linked flash
The E-TTL distance-linked flash algorithm takes factors such as lens distance information and ambient light readings into account for accurate flash metering, even in circumstances such as recomposed shots, or where high or low reflective objects appear in the frame. The camera is compatible with the entire EX-series Speedlite flash range. This includes the 580EX, which transmits colour temperature information for improved colour stability and auto zooms to match the camera's APS-C sensor size.
Lens mount
The EOS 20D is compatible with more than 60 Canon EF lenses, including Canon's EF-S lenses. Built with the EOS 20D photographer in mind, the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM and EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM cover popular wide (approx. 16-35mm) and standard (approx. 27-136mm) ranges in the 35mm equivalent.
Full control
An extreme high (3200 ISO) setting extends the camera's wide 100-1600 ISO speed range. Both sRGB and Adobe RGB colour spaces are supported. Digital Photo Professional image processing software permits high-speed processing of lossless RAW files.
Connectivity
The EOS 20D's USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection enables fast download of images to the computer. PictBridge compliant, the camera supports direct printing to any compatible photo printer. It takes both CF and CF-II cards, including cards of over 2GB capacity.
Online sharing
Free membership is included to Canon's online CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, with 100 Megabytes of free storage space for online album storing and sharing. Users can upload images to the site and direct clients, friends and family to secure online 'albums'.

'Very Good' was an understatement. Condition is like brand new, only reason I knew it was used it that it smells faintly like a long stored (in dry conditions) book.
Seller definitely lost money on postage. £5.61 I paid, £9.76 on the stamp, and that's not including the bubble wrap and other cushioning. Might seem a small thing but I'm strange that way that it means something.
Actual Camera: (With Canon EF-S Zoom Lens 18 mm - 55 mm - f/3.5-5.6 IS MK II )
I am not a pro photographer. Or even semi before I got this I was cameraless. I used to use my Mum's old film SLR, and I loved it because of the click noise it made rather than any features. So I can't got into fancy stats, but if your looking at this neither will you.
It's a brilliant starter DSLR. For <£300 you can't go wrong. Don't be put off by 'low' megaepixel. 8 is good. I used to think all you needed was high MP as well. Looks perfect on 8x12 (A4) print. Things like sunsets looking too bright and washed out, background being too in focus when doing a portrait, blurring background on motion sports. This camera can make these shots perfect vs a 3 zillion MP Point & Shoot. I can't stress enough the amount of amazing things you can do with a DSLR.
Reminds me of a Swiss watch. Complicated, interesting and 'just takes pictures' same as an Omega 'just tells the time'. (There's even a dial to change the view through the lens so that so that if you wear glasses you can take them off and still see perfect).
Manual is really in depth. None of this go online nonsense. 160 pages and all in one language.
Also just a side note. Purely cosmetic but it doesn't look old. It looks just like Canon's latest model and the laymen will assume your a semi/pro. [Not like old phones]
Everything I'd hoped for and a good bit more.
It has shot just about every concievable thing from sunsets on the Gulf Coast to rainy day portraits of the kids back in London. I can find nothing wrong with this camera and everything right and I have owned quite a few over the years too.
It has in built digital filters, crisp high defenitions shots that you can shoot seemingly all day with on the 1GB card. Great fast auto focus and even if you never get it out of auto mode you will not be disappointed. I would suggest investing the extra over the Nikon and Canon's in the similar prices range with just 6 MP's the 8.2 MP will get you that bigger print when you need it.
Talking of which I have just invested in a new Canon IP5000 printer and am amazed with that too. Crisp perfect colours, fast, economical with the separate ink cartridges.
Canon have got it right this time, big time (and by the way I don't work for them! :-) )
Great camera and system well done to Canon. I can only recommend this 100% and have no regrets or niggles at all and normally I find fault in everything.
So, I have just bought my own and been shooting all week with it. I find it very easy to use, and am very impressed with it's speed, both start up time and FPS....if there is enough light, this camera is rapid...more than enough for sports photography.
I use the EFS 17-85mm as my everyday lens, and so far have been very impressed with the quality of images.
It's a camera that will suit all your needs and well.
I don't imagine I'll be changing this camera for some years to come.......even the new 5D does not scare me.
If you can't afford the 20D, the 350D is a very capable camera also (but requies the battery grip as body is small).
