Embrace every opportunity
Capture the emotion of the moment, with a DSLR camera that's easy to use and delivers results you'll love.
Photos you'll be proud of
Shoot photos and video with a quality and character all of their own. 18-megapixel images from the EOS 1200D are packed with detail and are large enough to be printed at sizes up to A2+. Videos have a professional look and feel that looks great played back on your home HDTV.
Discover DSLR photography with EOS Companion app
Use the free EOS Companion app to explore the features and controls of your EOS 1200D and learn about how different lenses can deliver creative options and capture different subjects. Interactive tutorials and assignments will inspire you and help you develop your skills.
Capture memories even as it gets dark
When light levels get low the EOS 1200D boosts its sensitivity to light so your pictures stay sharp and you can reduce the need to use flash. Shooting with ambient light is a great way of capturing the atmosphere of an occasion, and remaining discreet for those priceless moments and natural expressions.
Easy to use for any subject
When you compose a photograph using the EOS 1200D the camera analyses the scene too, looking for brightness, colour and the presence of movement and faces. This information is used to set the most appropriate camera settings for the scene, whether it's a detail-packed landscape or fast-moving action. A built-in Feature Guide, and supporting app, help you learn more about your camera whenever you want.
Ergonomic design you'll love to use
An optical viewfinder allows you to compose and anticipate your shot, so you'll always be ready to capture the emotion behind the moment. It has friendly controls that are instinctive to use, and a large 7.5cm (3") LCD screen for image review.
Express your creative side
Emphasise the main subject in a photo by isolating it against a soft, blurred background - a look characteristic of DSLR photography. Use one of five Creative filters to add a personal touch to your photography, including Grainy Black and White, Toy Camera and Fish Eye effect.
Stay in focus
Keep subjects looking sharp by placing them underneath one of the EOS 1200D's nine focusing points. These are spread out across the viewfinder, letting you place your subject either in the middle of the frame or off-centre, for a more interesting composition.
See the world through different eyes
Change your viewpoint and capture different subjects as your photography progresses, with the extensive Canon EF and EF-S lens ranges. Get up close with a telephoto lens, or get even more of the scene in with an ultra wide-angle zoom.

It's a basic camera for sure. There's not much there in the way of functions. It as all the expected modes Aperture priority, Shutter priority, Macro, Manual and full auto.
Without going for second hand gear (which may actually well be a very good option at this price point) this is the cheapest DSLR on the market at this time. Which is exactly why I bought it.
If you're a beginner and don't need all the bells and whistles with a zillion focus points then this will be the perfect camera to learn on. APSC sensor size which will give you a 1.6 crop factor (This means when you're working out focal lengths for lenses you will need to times the focal length by 1.6 to give you a truer effective focal length. So a 50mm f/1.8 lens would be: 50mm x 1.6 = 80mm effective. This will be helpful if you are thinking about buying lenses too.) A good first choice for this camera is the canon 24mm 2.8 STM.
18 mega pixels is nothing to sniff at either when coupled with the kit lens you can get some really stunning results! Sure you'll probably want to get some better lenses and things in the future as the image quality can be further improved with optically better glass but the kit lens isn't terrible or anything it's not bad at all actually.
The camera has many different camera configurations which I haven't played with them all as I don't need them all.
Will be using this camera in my vlogs and PC building series, as well as general photographs out in the Cumbrian mountains.
Overall, I would recommend this camera to anyone that wants a good quality camera for not a too huge of a price.
At first I was very intimidated by all the functions and features of the camera.
But this set has provided with all the start up of the camera with a disc and the manual.
The manual was very easy to follow probably the first time I ever need to read a manual but the information was very easy to follow.
This set also included with a lens that can auto focus all you can manual use to focus.
This set was very worth it's value as it has everything it needs for you to start getting into photography.
I don't know whether this is good or not in professional level, but for beginners like myself I would definitely recommend it.
I do like using it though, it is light but feels solid. It was a very good price for such a nice camera. It may not have all the gubbins that the more expensive cameras have, but I'm a technoduffer so the simpler the better for me
