5.0 out of 5 stars Candace Wheeler, textile artist 10 Feb. 2012

Having been an admirer of this accomplished artist for years, I really enjoyed this book. Wheeler had a long and somewhat under-appreciated career in a field thought to be somewhat less than fine arts. Yet she was not only an artist in her own field of textiles, and interior designer, and contributor to the Chicago World's Fair, but inspired others to excel in the arts. Among other achievements, her daughter created a mural for the Women's Building in the Chicago Fair at the end of the 19th century.

Hard-bound is large, sturdy and filled with outstanding illustrations and photos. Well-written and deeply informative. So grateful it is still available.

I ordered this out-of-print book from three other venders (all orders were cancelled - politely - for one reason or another). Was relieved that betterworldbooks_ was able to get it to me on time without any issues.
