Interweavied with a battle of the Demon Cancer of the physical body and the Love that met those challenges
Are you prepared to die?
Is yours - was it - or of yourself is it - an unrequited love ?
Soul Mates - a mystery or makes you smile and kiss your partner?
Yes, the author is my cousin - and, boy could we share some stories, experiences, and, sorrows of family history all adding up to Life's way too short.
Tom is a gentleman and a soulful beacon of decency - not flawless, not boastful, not a seeker of adoration, promotion, or fame.
Truth is, I am only nearly finished his love story with Irene - I am a voracious reader, but the subject focus - Fight Cancer (a personal assured means of demise given my family history, two packs a day still, and working on dropping 30 lbs) combined with how the Tom and Irene anyone would love is so beautifully expressed - has had me procrastinate completing the read. Too, so hard to read through the tears.
Surely, Cancer has touched your Life in one form or another. If you, your significant other, a family member, neighbor, friend - or if you want to learn the depths of what the battle can be - you must read this book.
Their journey was filled with happy times mixed with emotional times. This book is a wonderful story for a caregiver or anyone faced with a family member or friend with a life threatening illness. It makes you realize how quickly your life can change overnight. It seemed Irene wanted to send a message through this book. Listen to your body, and if you feel as though something is not right, go to have it checked out. It could make a world of difference.
Thank you Tom Cooney for being a wonderful caregiver to Irene for 9 years, and especially for letting us know about your incredible journey.
