Camulus Vass is the laird of the large Munro clan, & craves the simple life.Maili is tasked with getting rid of the offspring of an Ancient God, oh did I mention she's a Goddess, bent on revenge.Throw in Camulus conniving Uncle & you have a wonderful, fun, fast-paced read.Short but highly entertaining, full of romance & passion.
The characters well written & I loved the Mortal/Immortal aspect....Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Maili a fallen goddess is a human woman but in order to become a goddess again must enact revenge on the person who took all that away from her but in doing so will threaten the life of the one person that she loves Camulus.
I instantly liked Cam or Camulus wow what a hero! Plus what’s not to like first he’s a highlander whom I really liked but then he has a special power about him too. Okay maybe for the fact that he is human speaks against him then but even with his humanity and failings there is that but even with that it made it all the more easy to associate with him. He might have powers but he was someone that made mistakes and seemed totally approachable. Maili on the other hand was hard for me to like. Maybe since she was driven by revenge and had this superiority complex about her that even though she was human most of the story she still bothered me. I didn’t feel any sympathy for her. I hated the fact that she was supposed to use people and exact revenge on the one that hurt her. Maili seemed very childish to me because she spent a lot of her life in a vengeful state. I wanted Maili to grow as a character and forgive Daro finding another way to obtain her goddess status but she keeps going with it anyway. I found it hard to see her be so vengeful and her to be in love both those emotions don’t go well together. I never figured out if Cam and Maili get married I am assuming they did since the ending was a little abrupt. I wanted a little more about both Cam and Maili’s power but maybe that comes with the rest of the series. Maybe I just wasn’t ready for the book to be over. I still enjoyed the story however rated it four stars, can recommend it and will definitely get more books from Ms. Lynn!
