Was needing a new tent after my old one started smelling a bit of mildew. What I was looking for in a new tent was an igloo style but with porches either side to put luggage instead of having to keep it inside. The Stratus 200 looked like it fit the bill. I also checked out some youtube reviews, all seems extremely positive with regard to standing up to the elements. Eureka! turns out to be an American manufacturer and this tent is known over the pond as the Apex 2XT, so if you want to check out online reviews you will need to plumb in that to the search bar. (Quite amusing reviews- one said something along the lines of "it's day 3 and it's still raining, but inside the tent it seems to be holding up"). Anyway, I guess Camptrails is Eureka's European arm. The weird arches on the flysheet at the side apparently help with ventilation to avoid condensation inside (certainly no problems there), and also you can turn the fly 90 degrees if you want to doors exposed for easy access. However I will definitely need to make sure I re-proof the outer skin of the inner to make sure these exposed area, not covered by the fly, repel the rain.
I took the tent on a canoeing/camping trip and I have to say I was really impressed with just how quickly the tent went up, were's talking 5 minutes- tops. Best of all the tent is ridiculously easy to fit back in the bag which seems to have been made nearly 2 sizes to big, so I presume packing away a wet tent won't be a problem. The weight of the tent is a little heavier than other hiking tents so may be if you have to carry it strapped to your backpack then you may want to look at other options. Overall, very impressed with the Stratus for value for money and quality, but I knocked a star off as I'm not so sure the arches in the fly are really necessary.
