I returned recently from holidaying and camping at 5 sites in France and used the Michelin Camping France 2010 - the latest on sale at the time I left, and this review applies to the 2010 Edition. Please note the 2011 Edition may be different. I cannot comment on other guides but I certainly recommend this one.
The book divides France into its 22 regions and has a map for each region with all selected sites pinpointed, and sites in neighbouring regions are also included - a good point. For each site, there are details of fees, facilities and period of opening. With this to hand, one can avoid those sites that are closed during early or late seasons, or too dear. I found the information to be quite accurate. The guide paid for itself the first night.
In my opinion, it does not matter that there are further sites not included in the guide. It claims to be a selection and no area is represented too sparsely.
I have given the Michelin Camping guide 4 stars and not 5 because the region maps generally occupy two pages and those site place names right in the fold are a little harder to read - a case for margins?
