Very pleased with this, in fact I've now bought two, one to use and one to charge.
I found that Gingerbread, while being a better OS generally, was much worse in power consumption on my Desire Z. Even with what I think of as my light usage (fair amount of Internet, all background updates switched on, some Kindle book reading, but no phone calls or texts to speak of) it was running down in much less than a day, and I had to do something. It used to last 24 hours but since Gingerbread it was running down after about 10-11 hours. Now the phone manages 2 1/2 days on my usage when left on on day and night. If I turn it off at night, this gives me 3 or 4 good days use. Excellent!
The battery is big, but I had an extended-case battery on my old Hero so I was used to the "lump" on the back of the phone, and even got to like it, giving better grip. Because of the way the original cover works on the Z, the back has to have little tags on it and although I've had no problems with it, you should be very be careful when taking it off and on as they are tiny. In any case as I bought two batteries (why wouldn't you, at this price?) I now have a spare cover. It looks fine however in terms of colour match (grey like the rest of the phone, rather than the original "brushed silver" (which in my case soon got scuffed and I had to scrape off all the varnish that was on it).
Can't understand why Cameron Sino doesn't make one for the Desire S. In fact, it seems no one does.
