Cambridge Mask Co - Military Grade Protection For the Whole Family -- The Cambridge Mask uses military grade filtration technology to filter out nearly 100% of particulate pollution, gases, as well as bacteria and viruses in a fashion friendly mask suitable for the whole family. We call this the British Pollution Solution. -- Independently Tested -- The filters used in the Cambridge Mask meet the N99 standard (higher than N95). This is a US Government specification for pollution masks. Cambridge Masks have been independently tested by Nelson Labs, USA which confirmed almost 100% of particulate pollution, bacteria and viruses were successfully filtered when tested. We have also tested to meet the standards for Chinese NK-95 and Korean Food and Drug Administration requirements. The masks use a triple-layer filter system which will protect from a range of airborne contaminants. Test Performance: • 99.6% average filtration of viruses • 99.77% average filtration of bacteria • 99.7% average particulate filtration down to 0.3 microns How does the Cambridge Mask work? The mask uses a unique triple filter system. The first layer catches larger pollution particles such as dust and PM10, followed by the Three-Ply Micro Particulate Filter which stops nearly 100% of smaller particulate matter such as PM2.5 and PM0.3. The inner filtration layer is made from a 100% pure activated carbon cloth, which was originally developed by the UK Ministry of Defence for chemical, biological and nuclear warfare protection. The carbon filter is also treated with silver to ensure almost 100% of harmful pathogens are removed and killed. The unique filter system allows the Cambridge Mask to perform better and last longer.

How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Cambridge Mask Co was founded by Christopher Dobbing, a graduate of Cambridge University. After finishing his degree, Christopher moved to China in 2012, where he worked as an education consultant and studied Mandarin. Sadly, many of the talented young people he was working with had developed serious respiratory illnesses. While in Beijing interviewing students for summer programme applications, he would ask “What do you think is the greatest challenge for China in the next decade?” the near universal answer was “air pollution”. Having grown up in rural England, Christopher found it shocking that many of the children found it ‘normal’ to have a cough and carry an inhaler with them. He believes that no child should have to think like that. After researching academic publications, health studies, news sources and historical pollution data he began to realise the scale of the issue, a problem that was claiming the lives of literally millions of people around the world every year. A curiosity turned into a passion, to allow people to breathe clean air wherever they are.
What makes your product special?
Traditionally pollution masks fall into two categories; Those that offer good protection but are heavy, uncomfortable and unattractive or those which look okay, but offer very little protection. The Cambridge Mask addresses this problem using a unique triple filter system which filters almost 100% of particulate matter down to 0.3 microns, harmful bacteria and viruses and other harmful gas pollutants such as residual VOC’s. To achieve this, the mask combines a pure activated carbon filter with another filter made from material developed by the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence for use in Biological, Chemical and Nuclear warfare. The powerful technology is condensed into a fashion friendly lightweight mask available in sizes for the whole family, including young children.
What has been the best part of your experience?
We work with Roundabout, a Beijing based charity, to support young children going through cancer treatments in China. As well as raising money for them, we go to the hospital and give out free masks to help. It’s always really inspiring to meet them and their parents and see how hard they are fighting. On my last visit, one of the children gave me a beautiful picture she had drawn, which I have hanging up in my house.

I bought a cheaper one size fits all cycle mask made from elastic material that stretched around the back of the head. I found this really uncomfortable as it was too tight, did not fit over my jaw properly and pressed down hard on my nose which made breathing harder. This Cambridge mask is a lot more comfortable, fits much better and does not press down on my nose so I am able to breathe!
Great quality and packaged well.
