Boris is a very affectionate monster. He likes nothing better than showering everyone with kisses and, though endearing, it can also be very ticklish. Boris loves everyone and can't help showing it. He kisses you for checking his fur for bugs, he kisses you for feeding him, he kisses you for stroking him - he kisses you for just about everything, in fact. * Waterstones * Part book, part hand puppet, this wacky book will keep you and your child giggling for hours. It's a great way of interacting through books. * Waterstone's Guide *

I have a 2 year old and a 3 year old. Once the 2 year old had got past the idea that Boris was a scary monster she loved it. The 3 year old loved it immediately.
I too, don't like the idea of a dog being scary (see previous reviews).
If you have a child who is reluctant to go sleep, this is NOT a bed time book. Way too funny and way too exciting..
BUT although Barry was a great success, lots of kissing and cuddling the puppet, which, parents, lets face it, makes our hands ache after a while, Boris remains unwanted and not really loved. It is funny how the hand makes the mouth move, but at the same time, the fur is shedding all the time, resulting to any kiss having fluff in the mouth of the baby. No wonder she gave it up. The story is not great either, as there is nothing to learn from it and not that fun.Fluff in the n
The only problem is that Boris is a bit keen on inappropriate touching, to the point where even a threatening dog is repelled by his overly amorous nature.
