Worst CoD so far; multiplayer-wise, terrible map design that was supposed to stop campers leading to every room having ATLEAST 3 entrances topped off with tiny maps where sub machine guns being hip fired by wannabe olympic sprinters/marathon runners reign king. Don't even think about picking this game up if you want to do anything other than run and gun. LMGs are terrible, snipers are terrible, assault rifles are ok, smgs are stupidly overpowered; many being able to cross map 50 yards away with little to no recoil.
Having said that the campaign was terrific, fairly long with a great storyline with good innovation via multiple choices affecting the ending of the game, and zombies is better than ever before, so if you don't plan on touching multiplayer then this game is a great choice.
At first it seemed that Treyarch had sorted the problems of previous sequels..
However after a while you realise it is all very repetitive and frustrating.
For some bizarre reason, the sub machine guns are unbeatable. They are hugely over powered, and can outmatch assault rifles in terms of range apparently. All you see is people with PDW-57 (sub machine gun in the game) sprinting around and hip firing. They even outmatch shotguns in close quarters fighting.
The maps are all relatively small making it a breeding ground of sprinting sub machine gun wielders who simply hip fire around corners.
There are no long range or tactical maps it is simply a free for all.
The spawning is ridiculous. You earn a kill and are then promptly shot in the back by an enemy who has re-spawned about 20 yards behind you that you shot about 5 seconds ago.
In my opinion no multiplayer sequel has been better than Call of Duty 4 which had fantastic maps such as district and Overgrown, as well as realistic gun performances.
Back to the drawing board Treyarch. Learn from this Activision and do not make the same mistakes.
Thanks to the lag compensation the game has become pretty much unplayable for me as all too often I fire a load of bullets into an opponent, getting a load of hit markers, only to die instantly and find out I either didn't even shoot my gun or I'm not even aiming at them. My K/D ratio has dropped by around 20% in the last week as I'm simply not able to get kills anymore.
And rather arrogantly, instead of announcing that they're working on a fix, Activision and Treyarch have released some 'tips' for improving your connection including disabling your router's firewall. Seriously?
It's a shame really as during the few times I actually don't have lag comp ruining things the game is probably the most fun I've had in a Call of Duty game since COD 4. The lag comp is beyond abysmal 9 times out of 10 however and because of that I simply can't recommend this game until there's a fix (if there's even going to be one).
Then again, if you have a poor internet connection you might actually have some fun with this :D
The multiplayer has the potential to be good but currently isnt.
The lightening strike is over powered as is the hell storm missle and hunter kill drone.
The perks are stupid, about half of them should always be on your player
Some of the attachments are overpowered auch as the target finder and the scope which looks through walls
The connection on this game is the worst of any cod to date, this is what has ruined the multiplayer for me. A 4 bar connectuon is like 2 bar on mw2, its like you're shooting bb's
Zombies is 9/10 almost perfect except that most of the maps are on fore so if you're on low health you get downed by the fire which is very frustrating. Except for that perfect an has some nice new modes and features
The campaign, from what i have played, has the best storyline and is great fun.
Multiplayer is a bit of a let down but the rest of the game is geat, I would wait until It gets some major patches before buying it
