CAFE DEL MAR 7

Amazon.co.uk

An oasis of calm amid the turbo-fuelled clubbing tornado that is Ibiza , Café Del Mar is the White Isle's original home of red-eye chill-out vibes and weepy sunset soundtracks. The series of compilations bearing the bar's name, meanwhile, have long patented that authentic sound of Balearic bliss (even claiming Madonna as a huge fan) and this seventh volume maintains the high standards. Founding DJ Jose Padilla may have long moved on, but his successor, DJ Bruno, is clearly well aware of the old adage about fixing what ain't broke. There's the usual mix of names well-known (Moby, Bedrock, Nightmares On Wax) and head-scratchingly obscure (Uko, Lux, Aromabar), but the sound of beautiful music for loved-up and lazy beach-bums stays the same. Frankly, this sounds as good at home as it does on the early morning terraces of San Antonio.--Calvin Bush

After Jose Padilla's decision to quit the Cafe del Mar franchise, I thought that volume six would be the last of these compilations. Yet Cafe del Mar is back, this time with Bruno, and in superb form. Easily rivals volume five for its electic, yet perfectly ordered selection of chill-out tracks (where do they get these artists from?) and the remixed Bush track was a very pleasant surprise. There is no point in me waxing on about this CD just go out and buy and decide for yourself - you won't be disappointed.

As the Amazon review says 'sunset soundtracks' sums this CD up for me. I can't pretend to know much about the history of these collections of music but I now what I like.
This CD was the one in our Sunset Villa on Lizard Island, Australia that would be left playing for us when we returned from dinner in the evening. Listening to the tracks now makes me cry!
Beautiful sounds to match a beautiful place. Buy this and dream of summer.

Everybody , in recent years, seems to have jumped on the Ibiza bandwagon but there aren't many series' of albums that claim to capture the spirt of Ibiza quite like the Cafe Del Mar series. Ibiza is all things balearic & CDM 7 hits the spot closer than any of the others have- from the balearic 1st track by Lux, gently building up tempo to the surprising drum & bass (but don't let that put you off) Aromabar track , some ambient trance from Bedrock (Digweed does ambient!) winding down to the end track by Slow Pulse which rounds off the album nicely. There is a good collection of several genres of dance/chill-out music- it's not even mixed- but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the album. Think Jose's successor, Bruno, knows his music and this album still tops my playlist weeks after buying it!

We thought we'd said "Goodbye" to Cafe Del Mar with Volume 6 but this offering shows we were mistaken. We should really have left the series to rest there, for Volume 7 lacks the evocative mood, warmth, colour and flavour injected by Jose Padilla while he presided over the series. This is Cafe Del Mar by name but not by nature and it is, frankly, disappointing. That is not to say these tracks aren't worth hearing; it's just that they're not what you'd expect from Cafe Del Mar.

This CD is a beautiful ( as usual ) mix of old Cafe Del Mar heroes ( like Afterlife, Bedrock, A New Funky Generation ) and new stars. As always, all the tracks are very sensitive and nice. If you close your eyes, when listening to the CD, you can feel, you're on the coast of Ibiza watching the sunset. And you wish it never ends.

I really really love this CD. It's the one thats usually always in my CD player as what ever mood i'm in the CD has a track on it. The first 2 songs are amazing, as is number 10.
I would recommend anyone to go out and buy it, as what ever style of music your into, there is a track for you, and personally every track is to my taste which is a first from an album!!!

The REAL Ibizian sound! Forget all of the hard core Ibizia sounds and Chill to this one! A good mix of well known and the not so well known artists. A very relaxing album, you can just imagine the sun rising in front of the named album hotel bar, sat on the waterfront with a bottle of Volvic! Starting with a soulfull tune from LUX - one to listen out for in the future! With some CDM veterans such as Afterlife, the more famous such as Moby and a surprising remix of Bush by N.O.W. In closing an Excellent album anyone could enjoy!
