1. Make sure the headphones are on (power button on back of left ear will be lit).
2. The light on the base unit will be pulsating slowly, you want to thump it but just press and hold it, the flashing speeds up.
3. Press and hold the mute button on the left ear cup - it's the button at the front, not the power button.
4. After a few seconds, the base light will be on, no flashing. There, done, paired them up.
There's a description of the above on Creative's website if you are still having difficulty :) Find the product page, look for a link to 'Knowledgebase solutions' and then 'How to reconnect SB Tactic3D to Basestation'.
The headphone fit is a bit tight for my big head, but I don't wear it for an extended amount of time, so doesn't bother me so much.
I don't use the mike and took it off.
I'm more than happy to recommend it.
The build quality is decent and feels solid, substantial consideration has been given to the padding of the headphones for comfort as it's quite heavy when you wear it. The headphones can be adjusted for comfort, and the microphone is detachable. The cables which comes with the set is also of decent quality with generous length. I would say the sound clarity is the best thing about this headset, which is surprising given that it is wireless.
Although the set is designed for simple set up, plug and play, I did at first struggle to get it all connected mainly because the information in the manual is so minimal. It is initially clear for set up, but it's not really good for troubleshooting. For example, I worked out on my own that blinking lights means that it's not connected, and that it may take a few minutes before the headset gets paired up, while it was doing this I was led to the believe that it wasn't working and I had installed it wrong. Battery life on this is fairly good, but it doesn't have an indicator to tell you when its running low. And when it does run out it will take 8 hours for it to fully charge. So perhaps lack of status indicators for battery and connection are really the only downsides I would say about this product. The blue light on the set does make it look nice, but apart from telling you it's switched on, or that it's in charge mode it doesn't have any other function.Read more ›
The thing I enjoy most about these headphones is the freedom to wander around, rather than being tethered to the desk by them. However, the signal breaks up sometimes when I'm in other parts of the house and there is always a continuous background hiss, which seems to be a common issue with wireless headphones. It makes me want to take them off whenever I'm not playing sound through them. They sound really quite good good most of the time if you can ignore the discomfort.
For PC users like me who have Soundblaster sound chips onboard, there is integration with features like scout mode and crystal voice. Unfortunately, or perhaps unforgivably, The Soundblaster software that works with my sound chip isn't able to switch between speaker mode and headphone mode, which it didn't have a problem with when I was using wired headphones.Read more ›
