Stops Nuisance Calls
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
We have a sister company which specialises in investigating unwanted and scam callers. They found it difficult to rid people’s lives of nuisance calls which led to us developing the ultimate solution, the call blocker.
What makes your product special?
Our product stops unwanted calls. The positive psychological effects of this are numerous. Also it removes the potential of being scammed through the phone, which in some cases saves entire livelihoods. That is truly special.
What has been the best part of your experience?
Realising how much our product enriches people’s lives and how it has expanded from a simple idea into the real world.

I have, however, experienced a couple of calls: one was from a call centre that didn't block its number, but typing #2 during the call blocked that. I have also had someone use a mobile to call me to try to sell something, and that is blocked the same way. Given that in several weeks I have only had a couple of such calls and I can block over a thousand more numbers, I think I will survive.
What about those people who have blocked numbers and genuinely want to contact me? So far, they have inserted the unblocking code before my number when ringing. I am waiting to see what happens when my GP phones, or hospitals checking that I am not missing an appointment, but, hey, if they don't get through I will change my number on their systems by putting the unblock code in front of it.
This is not for you if you receive loads of legitimate internet or international calls. I don't. It suits me fine.
I mentioned the #2 blocking code. There are a few of these codes which work via DECT phones too on this model. Alternatively, if you have just one landline, you can press the big red button to block a number instantly. How satisfying is that? (Especially if you tell them "I am now blocking your number---done!") Alternatively, the last number can be blocked after the call by another code sequence.
So, is it worth it? It is to me! The TPS is useless, a bad joke. This little gadget blocks nuisance calls by brute force. There is no compulsory subscription involved, though you do get a year of free membership of CPR included in the price. After that, you still have the blocker, as you own it. BT also provide a subscription blocking service, but I have no idea how good that is. As far as I can see, a year's subscription to the BT service costs far more than the cost of this device, so it is a no-brainer really.
So, thumbs up from me!
It was a very hard decision when I bought the CPR V5000, I was very sceptical after my previous call blocking experience.
I have now had the V5000 connected a month and cannot express how delighted I am with it.
It delivers big time and does exactly what it claims and I am so pleased I decided to buy it.
I cannot praise and recommend the CPR V5000 highly enough, at last we finally have peace and protection from all the vermin.
Unfortunately the answer is "no." The reason being that no sooner have you blocked a number than the scam calls just use a different one.
I still get calls from a robot called "Shirley" from "the Internet Service Provider" telling me my internet is going to be cut off.
I still get calls from the Indian man called "Kevin" from "Windows techincal support" telling me my computer is sending them alerts because it is full of "wiruses"
I still get calls about being entitled to "government schemes" out of the blue.
I still get calls wanting me to answer lifestyle surveys from India who never remove you from their database and just hangup if you ask them to.
GDPR means nothing to these companies, because they are scam artists. And they just have to buy more numbers to get past the blocker.
I'm still glad I have one as some kind of placebo, but it is no magic bullet.
Bad news - it does not stop all international scam calls, even though I have switched all the blocking options on (and checked that the 2 options specifically for international calls are in place). You have to block those that do get through individually - not a big deal, but it is not quite as advertised and I am not completely convinced it works.
Niggles - there is no way to specify the one international number I want to get through, likewise you have to get doctors, libraries etc that make internet calls to put a prefix: 1470 before your number.
