This is not an easy read. It makes you work hard. If you tune in, you can see the scenes flashing past your eyes. It's not completely coherent yet there are snatches of stories and enough action to fill your head with images of the seedier side of London life. It's not really a read at all, it's an experience. Five stars for originality.

Completely outside my comfort zone, but wow. The book zoomed past and read in one sitting. The text is poetic in nature, with each scene almost a verse with its own, fleeting, rhythm and flow. I came to this book after having binge-watched Gangs of London, and it’s those kind of images you’re left with. If you’re a fan of gritty London drama, coupled with unusual and experimental prose, then I’d recommend this unique book. It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s something about it that lingers in the mind once you’ve put the book down.

Fast & intriguing

If you're looking for something different, this is it. His style of writing is very much outside of the norm, but actually, that's what I liked about it. It's a fast read that gives you snapshots, just enough of a glimpse into the lives of those making their way through London's seedy underbelly.

Impressionistic and fleeting imagistic rushes from a grimy and degraded assemblage. The kind of grain and murk of a good film that isn't shiny enough for TV now. Good films like Mike Leigh's 'Naked'. Bringing together a cast of characters from different street levels of London. It's part J. G. Ballard, part Irvine Welsh and part Jimmy McGovern's 'Cracker'. Worth your time.
