Sheila becomes one of the youngest CEO’s in the country as she takes over the family business from her father. She is feisty and doesn’t take any prisoners both in her work life and personal life but there are very blurred lines between the two as Sheila thinks nothing of using her womanly assets to get the upper hand in business. She is all business with no friends mentioned and is estranged from her siblings, the only really relationship she has with anyone is with her father but again there is very little interaction between them, as such it is really difficult to get an angle on the personality of Sheila.
Frankly I found it difficult to keep up with her bed-hopping between numerous men, I think it was four ,or was it five, with no emotional involvement involved and most it seemed were to help her business wise. These different scenes just never tied together in any way that was clear to me as a reader but I feel they did to the author and so to her character as we got snippets of insights to things that we hadn’t seen occur but through the characters thoughts which again added to the writing feeling disjointed.
I have no idea if this is a first book in a series or not as it is not indicated in the book, but the book just ends rather abruptly in the middle of a scene that again doesn’t follow through to its full fruition as with most of the storylines.
At times the story felt stilted, with something major happening at work and instead of resolving it, she would go out with one of the many men wanting her attention. An impressive social life for someone so busy in work.
It was a quick read and was at times a hot read. I found Sheila to be a cold individual, who would do pretty much anything to get her own way. There are lots of obstacles standing in the way of her success and a slightly dysfunctional family. It was an interesting read and it was an enjoyable way to pass a couple of hours. Being a woman in a man's world is not easy, especially when the men are determined to use your sexuality to get what they want. Sheila is certainly a character that takes no messing in that department and equally turns the tide and uses her sexuality to get what she wants.
