I don't usually write reviews but I owe it to the makers of this product. My cats were receiving death threats for using the neighbour's garden as their toilet and we had tried many things to no avail. I researched all the cat scarers on independent reviews and plumped for this one. It's been in place about 6 weeks now but with careful placing, it worked from the start. We may have been lucky, as it can take a few weeks to work, so please do give it the full trial period before you review. Those people who said it didn't work on day one, I just discounted because they had not followed the maker's advice. I called a pest control company and they said the sound waves spread out from the device like a torch beam (around 90 degrees in all directions), so placing it in the corner with a good line of sight, can cover most of your garden. However, just as bushes would throw shadow from a torch beam, they can create a dead spot for these type of devices. If you have the entry and exit points covered though, a dead spot in the middle of the garden shouldn't matter. This device is one of very few which is targetted to cats so it won't scare the neighbour's dog. I supplied Duracell Ultra (high power) rechargable batteries, which have worked well. Cheap recharagbles have a lower capacity and may not be as effective.

Doesnt work sadly. Bought at least 6 of these in last 8 yrs. Placed this, spikey cat mat, the narrow cat spikes on fence, 3 pots garlic powder, balloons, cat repellent spray, sheets of foil, cat plants, 3 cat sensors with high pitch and all failed! Last week had enough after clearing one and half bags of poo, electric fence put up as deterrent (they sense the voltage) and stapled chicken wire to fence to ensure no gaps under bottom wire and for first time in 8 years havent got any cat poo. ps neighbour has 13 cats. Good luck!

I was attracted to this product because it gives a 90 day money back guarantee. We have lots of cats around us and they were always in our garden messing and catching birds. So we bought one of these deterrents - now the accompanying leaflet does explain that it can take a few weeks for the cats to finally give up (hence the 90 day guarantee) and also not to be surprised if you see a cat sitting right in front of it - he will be trying a battle of wills. This actually happened, I came home to find the most troublesome cat sitting right in front of it willing it to go away! We have a medium sized garden and found that the one sensor didnt cover the whole area, so we bought another. The results have been amazing, it did take several weeks but eventually the cats gave up. But just be aware that the deterrent needs a clear view to detect the cat, so if you have a hedge where the cats hide it wont work. It works by emitting a sound inaudible to humans birds and dogs etc - but the cats dont like it.

Within days of setting it up it obviously scared away the prime suspect . Stars deducted, one for the battery cover breaking when I first used it (the spike holds it in place but useless if you want it wall-mounted), and one for insisting that Duracell batteries are used; any other make can invalidate the warranty according to the instructions. I've never had any other battery-operated item insisting on one make.
As time has gone on, cats have sat right next to it; I've moved it around but they still aren't bothered by it. One even jumped onto it, breaking the spike.

This item did not work in my garden for some reason. I read all the reviews and thought it would be the answer to the pesky cats eating the hedgehog food and killing the birds (especially being endorsed a leading bird protector). I have footage of the cats completely ignoring the machine (even though it sometimes activated right next to them). When I contacted the manufacturers they suggested a clear line of sight, new batteries and resetting the machine. I tried all of these and the machine was still ignored by these pests. The seller suggested giving it a week two to frighten the most determined cats. There is no where in the item's description did it mention this, before I used the machine I had two troublesome cats within a couple of days there were three.

FURTHER UPDATE 21/9/2020......I have taken this down to 1 Star........DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS if you think it’s going to work on every cat that visits your property! It doesn’t! I decided to update my review after having this device a few months and seeing how it works. Yes, I’ll admit some Cats don’t like it but it’s expensive and in my humble opinion, should work to deter EVERY CAT!

UPDATE 9/3/2020......I have started to hear the noise emitted by this device, very odd because I couldn’t in the beginning?! I’ve just put a NEW Duracell Battery in it, thinking it might be that. But no! I can still hear a noise!
And unfortunately I’ve seen Cats visit who aren’t bothered by it whatsoever!
So, I’ve taken 3 stars off my initial review, which was probably a bit too soon to post really.
I might contact the supplier to tell them and perhaps ask for a refund on the 90 day refund policy.

This wonderful product works really well! Cats have decided to come onto my drive and leave “presents” and I was getting totally fed up of trying different sprays/pellets etc. Until a friend told me about this Ultrasonic Deterrent. I’ve probably spent as much as this costs on the sprays/pellets!!! The FIRST evening I put this outside, within a couple of hours it successfully scared a Cat away!
So very happy......it may be small but packs a punch as far as Cats are concerned 😊
It only makes a faint clicking noise when it detects movement.

The catwatch is well designed and does keep the cats at bay, but only time will tell. I've only been using them (i purchased 2) for approx six weeks and one drawback is they are heavy on batteries. If you can run them from a mains supply it would obviously be better. Unfortunately, mine are placed quite a way from the house. I have given 5 stars based on present experience only.
