Despite last being updated in 1984, this remains the definitive text on competitive auctions in Acol - there are so few books written on the subject of competitive auctions and even fewer that come anywhere near to being a comprehensive treatise on the subject.

Even for those who don't play Acol, competitive sequences don't vary that much between systems, so this is suitable for all.

If you're remotely serious about improving your game then this is one of the very few must-read books. But don't expect an easy read, it's for serious players so you must already have some knowledge of the game (intermediate standard as a minimum) and want to ensure that you are properly equipped to form a partnership with good players - and by "good players" I don't mean the people who win the local club duplicate every week.

I've asked for the publisher to put it on Kindle, because works of this kind should not disappear from bridge literature, it's too important, it would be in the same vein as allowing Shakespeare to be lost to posterity.
